My husband ordered me a Death Proof prop(sort of)

He went to the liquor store, looking for a bottle of green Chartreuse, aka "the only liquor so good they named a color after it."

The clerk said that they're actually clearancing it out, but found a couple bottles in the area. But they're going to call me when they come in so I can pick them up.
I'm planning to get some models of the cars used in the movie to display the bottles with. We also got some movie posters that were printed on card stock, like you see posted in lobbies. Any other ideas that would make a good display? I'm hoping someone makes some good paper props of the "Cash Only" signs and maybe some stuff from inside the bar. I'd love to get that duck hood ornament, but it's a little out of my budget right now.

I made the Cash only poster. It's not perfect, the poster on screen has some sort of pattern inside the letters, but hey ... it's free :lol

I also made some Stuntman Mike keychains (correct spark plug)
Drop me a PM if you would like to get one.

I thought of offering a run of keychains for the board awhile back but didn't think there would be much interest.

I know when I worked on IDing it, it took me a solid week of online searching to come up with a possible match then another 2 days to actually locate one of the buggers. :lol

I have a nice keychain for my black Chevy Nova though. :cool

It was originally developed as an herbal tonic, by the Carthusian monks, hense its name. Its very sweet, herbal and, yes very high in alcohol. I love it. Its like Jagermeister, in its herbal properties, but very refined, subtle, makes Jager taste like something womped-up in a prison toilet with raisons and bread.

and I like Jager, but its crude by comparison. Less liquorishy (sp)

Oh and the recipe is only known by, like, three Carthusian brothers (monks) at a time, very secretive, very cool.

If you asked Rob (Propazoid) nicely he might lend you his original screen-used Stunt Man Mike car from the movie :angel

I forget if it's the Charger or 'the other one' (forgive me, I'm British and just been in a major car accident myself :rolleyes) but it's a hella nice car, and I'm sure he doesn't get many people asking to car-pool! LOL

Cheers,
John

I wonder what it tastes like.

It tastes like a combinations of cough drops and cut grass, nasty stuff. Friend of mine made a decent drink out of it though, light a shot of it, wait 10 seconds then drop it into a shot of captain morgan's private stock. Guaranteed to knock anyone on their ass in one go. :thumbsup

If any of you live in London, head out to Chiswick to the High Road Brasserie on the Chiswick High Road. As for a bartender named Dan and ask him to make you an Elixer 66. Possibly the best and most unique cocktail I've ever had.

Chartreuse
Lychee juice
crushed corriander
apple liquor
and perhaps a few other things I'm missing.

Oh, as I saw one person state that they didn't know the alchohol percentage was that high. They actually make two strengths. The green bottle is the stronger of the two, and there is a yellow label that is more like 40%.

I actually found a store near me in Quincy, MA that sells both!!!!

I'm looking forward to tasting Chartreuse, but a little anxious about the alcohol content, as I'm kind of a lightweight when it comes to drinking. I did look up a few shots and cocktails to make with it, for when friends come over and I can hand them a glass and say, "Here, drink this!"

cheers dude you just planned my sunday :love

I wonder who go the Charger... or the Challenger... I think Tarantino has the Mustang.

I have a Nova myself but I haven't turned it into a prop. Bought it because of the movie though. :cool

I'll have to get some Chartreuse. Green liquor tends to be... interesting. Have a bottle of Absinthe, that is some hard core stuff. Like flamming liquorice.

I also have the sparkplug keychain and, not intentionaly, the phone Abernathy uses in the extended version of the movie. There really aren't too many little props used in the film, aside from clothes, posters, and things like that. Real shame there isn't move love for it too.

Followup on the Chartreuse: It tastes...warm. Kind of a herby aftertaste, like parlsey or oregano. Personally, I liked it better as a shot, and it was a nice buzz. Sipping it from a glass just gets nasty after a while. Several people agreed to try it, but no one else seemed to like it. I think my favorite shot actually had a drop of grenadine in it, but I still have a bunch of recipes to try. The stuff is pricey - I only got it because it was half off - so I'd advise you to try it in a bar first, rather than commit to an entire bottle.

Love the hobby. But not being gifted in modelling or moudling but being an accomplished drinker this is the first thread in years that I can actually excel at. Thanks Chaps
