Here is my first attempt at casting up a plasma rifle. I've cast up small little parts here and there but this is the first time messing with a mold this big. I'm using TC1630. I need to go back and thicken up the edge lip a little as they are a little too thin. The main section is pretty thick and it's not super light but i like that it feels a bit heavy. Next time i am going to cast it a bit differently to make a better edge. I am probably going to build this up with a flashing light in the barrel and maybe some sound effects. Maybe an aluminum barrel. Not sure yet. I wanted to see if i could get this far first. Whoever cut the mold cut it about as crooked as they could but at least the sides match up. I may try to cast the bottom section in black Onyx resin but that stuff is hard to get a bubble free cast from so i'm not sure i want to even try. Here are some pics, a little dark but the sun was already almost set. Also it looks crooked in the pics but it's not.

Thanks guys. Here are some better pics after i cleaned up the edge a bit. I wanted to do that before i thicken the edges up. Overall i'm happy. I did notice the front end has a slight twist to it but after looking at the molds it looks like the original one did too. I may try to 'adjust' it next time.

gonna be selling these?

Your going to stir up a hornets nest but i guess i knew it would happen. Unfortunatly there are a couple black clouds hovering over these molds that would have to be cleared up before i could do that. One being 10 or so people got shafted by it's original owner so it's a touchy subject here. Oneeye i'm sure will chime in. :ninja Second being the origin. The second one i am feeling pretty good about, if i can get some more pics of a few more variants of the Sideshow rifle i can better tell what i have. So far of the SS rifles i have seen none have the same defects as this one and this rifle doesnt have any of SS defects. That doesn't mean too much since i don't know how many rifles SS cast but if they just molded one screenused rifle and all of SS's rifles have the same boogers then i doubt these molds are a ss recast nor did they come from the same gun SS cast. So to answer your question, no not for now.

Yesterday i tried a different route and cast this up. Maybe a bit too thick but i like it. I used balsa this time to make a form for the sides. Next time i hope to get the walls a bit thinner. I need to order more resin though, i'm out. I also need to figure out what to cast the mag and forearm out of and order it as well.

That's going to be real nice when it's finished with your level of work quality. Looks like you've doing big cast for years.
