Home made from 2 jackets after searching screen caps and web stores.
I think the costume designers like to use high end stuff some times, just to make it hard for us.

The leather jacket I used is a Heine Gericke. It has very similar padded elbows to the screen used one but the sleeve zippers are too short and it has cuffs where the real one has none. From what I can figure, the screen used sleeves are from a Blk Dnm jacket which run $500+.

The plaid jacket portion is an exact match to a GAP jacket from last year and more precisely, a size small if you want the snaps to match up in the same places. I managed to snag a few in different sizes just to be safe.

Disassembled both then put the sleeves onto the plaid body from the inside then did the blue and read heavy threading, trying to match it as close as I could to some close up screen caps...and what do you know...I found at least 2 different versions - of course.

Sanding down the wool reveals more of the visible weave on the plaid. Will post more as I weather it up. Just not sure if I can make it in time for my local Con coming up at the end of April.

Have to say I was ticked that whatever they sprayed on the sleeves to get the brown splotching is on his vest too. I have one vest done up as season 2 etc. with the blue jacket and leather sleeves so I don't want to mess it up.

Guess that means I have to make another vest.

I never saw it called anything other than "Men's gray plaid wool shirt jacket". There are a few mediums to be found on eBay right now.

So as I was making this jacket I wonder why things lined up with references one time and the next day they wouldn't...thank goodness for HD screen caps!

I figure there are at least 2 screen used jackets he is using...

I have 3 smalls and 2 mediums in my possession and the placement of snaps and the plaid pattern are virtually identical, specific to each size.
Using them as a reference it appears that the jacket on the left is a small and the one on the right is a medium.
So go nuts! You can wear either and still be screen accurate!

When comparing the screen jacket with a new one you can see that the
plaid is "fuzzy" on a new jacket but on the prop you can see thread details.

To take the mat down I tried several different methods; from mesh screen drywall sandpaper to less aggressive sandpaper to scraping with a razor.

The combined result however did reveal the same effect on my replica...

Keep a vacuum nearby!
There is a ton of fuzz that comes off.

I will have to say, you CAN see the individual thread detail on the screen used prop. The leather arms on the screen used look like they were dragged across a diesel mechanic's shop floor! They spend ALOT of "finicky" time on his gear.

Sorry my notifications were not turned on Martin. This one already sold to Austero. I have more base jackets, just waiting to collect some more leather ones with the right sleeves to make more.

This is how much wool I shaved off the new jacket to get the threading to show properly...

I had been using Heine Gericke moto jacket sleeves as they had the closest matching elbow pad but they also had a small cuff and black zippers which does not match the s/u. I found a California Creations moto jacket which had nicely matching elbows plus metal zips with no sewn cuff. There is a noticeable grain but otherwise it is a good match so I put together another jacket (I think this is my 3rd or 4th version) I only shaved the front and the areas that peek out from the vest on the back instead of shaving the entire back as it should be covered by the vest (and it's not a fun job!)

I am pretty sure that the actual s/u sleeves are from a BLK DNM jacket which would make sense, these survivors seem to keep finding the most expensive pieces of clothing! I can't bring myself to spend $300-$600 on jacket just to take the sleeves off. I'm happy that the GAP jackets are correct and still pop up as new on the bay plus I still have a few left. I can live with the various sleeves that I can find that are close matches.

If anyone does this conversion be aware that the California Creations jackets all seem to have a very annoying crisp crinkling sounding inner lining which sounds like you are wearing a frozen plastic bag when you bend your arm. They absolutely have to be removed and replaced with the GAP sleeve liners. The leather is also quite rigid so might need some beating up to soften it. I like the Heine Gericke leather much better. If it wasn't for those sewn cuffs and black zippers they would be my preference.

Finally got the accurate BLK DNM jacket!

After years of waiting for someone to be dumping a trashed BLK DNM jacket for a decent price I finally got one, nice and weathered and already a rip in one of the sleeves. I would have found it hard to put a cut into a nice undamaged jacket. And with the jacket in hand I am now positive that these are the sleeves used on his jacket. The only other source to be 100% would be with the costume designer.

I think once I remove the sleeves I will get the body stitched back up and try to sell it as a vest. Maybe recover a little bit of cash on it.

Hello, i cant find it on ebay or other sites
Can you help me to find the "Men's gray plaid wool shirt jacket".

Its been long out of production but it does show up on ebay once in a while. Other than that just keep checking 2nd hand sites and stores.
