My Conan swords - [more new swords]

Re: My Conan swords - [FINISHED!]

Big fan of the movies and got to say your work is quite amazing.

Re: My Conan swords - [FINISHED!]

Thanks for nice words! I'm so happy to see this project get finished... a lot of effort went into it...and it feels awesome to see that work pay off!

Re: My Conan swords - [FINISHED!]

That is one nice sword. The detail is sick and the progress was great
to watch.. Nice job, I love it .:thumbsup

Re: My Conan swords - [FINISHED!]

Thanks! The bronze is really cool to look at up close. Investment casting captures and adds lots of details and the patina brings it out too. Bronze will continue to age and color if you don't seal it (which I don't). I like the aged effect.

Re: My Conan swords - [FINISHED!]

They look fantastic Savagesword! Again that is kingly work.

Re: My Conan swords - [FINISHED!]

Here's a couple of swords I did for my 2 nephews. These blades show a surface etched inscription.

I've also attached some pictures of my 'inspired by Father's sword'... I call it Mountain Beast.

I am still up for getting one of your father's swords in the future Savagesword. As soon as funds allow i will be in touch.=D

Last few months have seen a LOT going out and little coming back in but i am more then hopeful in a few months time.;)

Well at long last i got my Father's.Masters sword form Savagesword. I had wanted one from the time i saw Davids post but at that time i couldn't do it. Anyway i was away for a week when it came and when i got home it was like happy Crom day. David packaged it up so well and in a huge box so no chance of damage and when i finally got through all the wrappings i was blown away. I have been a Conan fan since a young kid when i had all the books and then the film left a huge mark on me. This sword was a dream i had for so many years and when Albions came out at that price it was a dream crushed. Now i have had Marto's etc which is a real nice replica and i have a Fableblades version which is amazing but for me Davids tips the scale. It's the best and closest i've seen to an Albion and the real sword in the movie and the pics don't show the great detail in Davids sculptures. The engraving is great and though not as perfect as Albion it's pretty darn close and at a great price. If any RPF members are a Conan fan one of these is a must.
Thanks David for making a dream come true.

OMG OMG OMG .... Quite literally MY FAVORITE SWORD EVER/ALWAYS !!! :eek
(even moreso than lightsabers . . . I have ALWAYS wanted one JUST LIKE IT)

(I also like the sword Arnold wielded in the [albeit horrible] Red Sonja movie ...)

- though the Conan sword is my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE, hands down !!!

Having not previously been fully aware of the prop replica creation possibilities I've seen since discovering the RPF Community,
I bought this "Barbarian II" sword via Amazon several years back. For the price, it's okay ... but the handle/butt leaves much to be desired. Also, the sword, itself, shakes around slightly from/in the hilt.

Now, having recently discovered this amazing world of replica prop creation, I suppose I could begin to think about how to modify that cheapo sword to make it look much better/closer to the original Conan version. To that effect, the first thing I would want to do is address the "sword shake/rattle" issue. I am wondering if I could take it to a knife shop (as most of them usually carry some swords as well) and see if they might be able to resolve the sword/hilt shake issue (??) - would this be a good/best option for this ?? :confused

In the alternative, I am wondering, David, if you created and/or still have molds of the hilt/handle pictured above and, if so, might you be able to cast duplicates? If so, the next logical step/question will of course be ... price quote ?? :)

Looking forward to further thoughts/insight.

TOM
