My Bossk meets the 'real' Bossk at Celebration V!

Your costume is quite indistinguishable from the original one!!!! :eek :love
The only thing that could be maybe corrected in a second time - but maybe is an effect of the picture - is that it seems to be a gap between the Bossk skin of the gloves and the tissue of the jumpsuit - the hands appear to be more gloves than real hands and forearm as they are supposed to be compared to the suit.
Except that, the final result is absolutely amazing, congratulations!!!!

Thanks, and I agree, the arms are sagging here. Normally the ride a lot higher, but I was wearing this up to eight hours nonstop at CV. That why my face looked red and swollen in the pic with Alan Harris. My head is actually crammed in he tight neck to peer out of the mouth to get an extra four inches of height.

Fastening the arms directly to the suit doesn't work becasue they are latex and need to be taken off from time to time to let my hands dry.One of my next projects will be to put a band of inconspicuous velcro on the suit and rubber joint to remedy the problem.

I have done some reading on the Windak suit and was curious on how you did it because I knew you couldn't find an original windak suit. Bossk is a personal favorite character of mine and would love to start on a bossk costume. Thanks for the reply.

Another thing I forgot to mention is that when the USAF suit is reversed, you see the tape covered seams just like in the "yellow" Windak that Bossk wears. However the later model, dark blue Windak suit, worn by Bo Shek, has the tape on the inside, like the USAF one, and the whit stitching can be seen on the outside.

There is still one mystery....., the original suit has a kind of "butt pack" probably for a parachute, which can be seen in one profile view of Bossk, and can also be seen when the suit is worn, complete with helmet by an 'extra' who walks across the Mos Eisly cantina. The cables coming down from the chest box to the back, probably activated a seat pack parachute, just as the upper ones released the helmet from the neck ring.

Alan Harris didn't remember this, and the blue Windak on display in GB the back cannot be seen in the display case, and it may be different anyway. he parachut almost certainly would have been removed.

Interestingly, a tiny, 35mm tall gameing figure of Bossk actually shows the seat pack, though no other action figure or other rendition does, including the most expensive large cale figures.

I've been building Star Wars props and costumes for a little over 10 years and it is hard to belive this is your very first Star Wars Costume, but your eye for detail from all the years doing all the other re-enactment stuff is just in your blood.

I'm proud to wear my Fett suits with you and have you as a friend.

Thanks Tambo, I would never have made Bossk if you hadn't shown me what a great bunch of people are in the 501st. For many years I have done historical reenacting but dismissed Sci Fi and Fantasy people as "nutjobs", but now see they are great, normal people, and have to admit I have had as much or more fun doing these things as I have in historical reenactment. I am not aware of any historical reenactment group that has done as much for charities, and bring joy to kids, than Star Wars costumers.

Bossk, you've made me want to try to get to Celebration next year. I'll have to finish one of my Star Wars costumes.

Regretably, SW Celebration comes only once every three years, but DragonCon will be very well attended by SW Costumers in 2011, since there won't be a Celebration to compete with like this year. I was lucky to be able to attend both, and luckier still that Bossk won prizes at both.

Amazing!! It doesn't look like a costume........it actually looks like Bossk walking about!

Rich

Thanks Rich,

When in Bossk costume I actually try to walk/behave in a kind of lizard-like way, based on my keeping Reptile pets for many years. In fact, it was because of my fondness for reptiles/dinoosaurs/dragons and such, that made me decide to do Bossk, of all the Star Wars Characters.

I've attached a pic of Bossk also 'eating' like a reptile would.

Looks like you clipped your front claw - hangnail?

Great pics!!

Thanks. Losing toe claws is a constant problem as so many kids want to pose for photos and they are always stepping on them. Fortunately, every time someone noticed one fell off, they gave it back to me and I put it on again. My first claws were rigid, but it didn't work and I had to make them flexible. These are hollow cones made of latex rubber reinfroced with layers of muslin.

The other photos were also taken at Dragon-Con. There was a wall with a great 'Wanted Poster' of Bossk on it, which was an ideal location to take pictures.
I know this thread is old, but I'm doing all of the research that I can in preparation of building my own Bossk... following in "Bossk"'s footsteps and trying to live up the incredible standards you've set is mroe than a little daunting!
I wanted to point something out about one of the first pics posted in this thread. The one with the "wanted" poster is just AWESOME, but here's the thing: I don't know what 'language' the text is in at the top of it, but the lower three lines are in Aurek-besh, and they read:

HIRE
BOSSK
NOW

So it's not a "Wanted" poster at all - It's an advertisement! :lol

Again, awesome work on your hunter, Bossk. I'm a huge fan of the character and of your recreation of him. :)

Yes I agree, i also started, well not started, ive had my Bossk for awhile but am only now finishing him up as well.

Hey Superboyprime. Sorry for the long delay in responding, but just saw your comment. I found my suit at a local army surplus store by Ft. Campbell, KY, but you can find them on ebay and around the country. Because it is a waterproof enviromental suit, much like the original British one, it is very hot, but will look much more realistic than just a yellow cotton coverall. Also not that in both the British and U.S. suits there is no front opening. You must get into the suit through a zipper in the upper chest, mounted into the black rubber planchet which some people refer to as a vest (which it is not.)
