My A280-CFE build attempt

After watching Rouge One,I started to build a A280-CFE prop off a Airsoft receiver.
My question is,how far can you deviate from the movie gun before it violates canon?
Such as
1. Can I use a underfolding stock?
2. And use optics?
Thankyou?

Hi ReJ

Your questions seems a bit unspecific...

If you want it movie accurate, do NOT deviate and use all the parts the prop dept. used as well, if possible.
If you just want to build "a" blaster, based on the design you chose, feel free to incorporate whatever changes you want/ need to make the build happen.

Are you trying to make it part of a costume and go for approval? What are the regulations of the specific group you´re trying to join?...

Hi Markus.
I was going to try to make it movie accurate.
But not for any official costume. Will be a wall hanger.
I like the look of it,but honestly,I will add an optic to it.
but try to make it look like it would be from the Star Wars universe.
I had posted from work and didn't add the pics of how far I got.
I plan on making the barrel and side fittings on a lathe at work, when the chance allows.

And I would like to add a big thanks for those who posted on the builds of this type blaster here on the forum,I've been reading their threads(Sorry for not posting Thier names).
Also thanks to Punished Props,Happy Trooper,Cosplay Chris.
and all the others on you tube that got me wanting to do this build.

My take on it has always been that the rebels would have had a certain flexibility in their kit - after all, it was cobbled together. There are a couple of versions of the A280s that are canon, but who's to say that individual commandos would not have modified their weapons as they saw fit?

Looking great so far! What M4 did you end up with for your build?

did you base the side details on the ones on the screenused blasters? If so, I could use a set for my A300 :cool

looking forward to your progress

Hi,and thanks.
I used a Airsoft M4 upper and lower reciever.
I could have used the 3D printed greeblies that a member here has for sale (sorry can't think of His name) through ?shapeways? I think?
yes I based it on the photos from the movie.
I blew up the pics till they were as close as I could to size of the M4.
then best guessed how big to make it.
only made one so far from 304 SST,took me a few hours.
LOL
Going to make 4 more so I'll have an extra one for in case I make a mistake on the mill.
I wish I could have used an 80% reciever instead of the plastic one.
Have fun with your build.
I know these are made from real world fittings, but try as I could.
couldnt find them.
