My 5 y/o's Indy costume is COMPLETE!

My 5 year old son really wants to be Indy for Hallowe'en. Actually, he wants to be Indy everyday... (I got him a mini fedora - and he wears it ALL the time.)

Since he's as detail oriented as his dad - I naturally have to make him a fairly accurate costume... (never a store bought costume for my kids)

So tonight, since I had some green fabric laying around and a little bit of time to kill, I started w/ the pint sized man-purse. I still need to find a strap for it and dirty it up. I'm sure there are a hundred inaccuracies to it - but I think it turned out pretty ok for an hour or so of work and some fabric and bits I had lying around the house (good enough for a 5 y/o).

Off to a great start, Dallas. Your skills never cease to impress me. The bag looks great and I look forward to seeing the rest of the costume. The little dude is going to love it. :)

Too cool man!

Very nice job on the bag! :eek

I love seeing what some of you do for your kids! Makes me rethink the whole "single non-parent for life" thing Ive been going for the past decade! :lol

That and you know this is when we woulda enjoyed this stuff even more!

If I woulda held a real graflex at age 5 I would have freaked! If my dad was like Troopermaster and made me a pint sized TK... They woulda had to airlift me to childrens hospital! :wacko

(y)thumbsup for a very talented and equally cool dad! :cool

That looks great. You must be quite skilled to have thrown that together in an hour!

There will be tons of kids going as Indy this halloween, but I bet your son has the best costume in the neighborhood.

Please keep us up-to-date on your progress.

Wow!
What did you use for the lanyard disc on the side?
Also...is it the full size or mini-me?

That's really cool, yes, what did you used for the lanyard ring and what are you using for the buckle?

In reality the straps are attached slightly differently (But I'm sure you know that already!)

Very nice work.

Re: Officially started my 5 y/o's Indy costume tonight

Yea- it's miniature sized - about 7.5" wide. The lanyard disk is made from a couple of metal bits I had lying around that I drilled a hole in and riveted together. Not sure what they were - they were just in my bins of bits n' pieces of crap I've collected over the years for this very reason.

Again, I'm not going to go super crazy w/ accuracy - only as close as I can get making it all miniature sized and from stuff I have or can easily find at thrift stores.

Wow!

That is just AWESOME!

I have a six year old nepew that I'm going to make one for.. (he doesnt know yet :D) I'm actually planning to make one for myself while I'm at it.
Right now I'm finishing a jedi robe (I wouldn't let his parents buy that.. I was going to do the full costume but they went and bought the rubies travesty...) Hes excited and I know your son must be also.
Great Work and exellent detail on your mini-bag :D

What did you use to weather the satchel? I just got one yesterday and need to do give it that look.
