My 1st predator Bio mask

Hey people
im new here and i am doing my 1st of many bio masks and would like some advice. but 1st ill start from the top, i made a template of Spartan857 version of the mask, i thought it would be easier. i made the card stiff and stuck some coats of filla on it but its just not giving me the finish i thought it would do, so do any of you legends out there know of anything in uk that can give me a nice finish ready for paint?
