My 1st Freddy Krueger Glove + Stand. (Complete!!) + WIP on 3 More.

Re: My Handmade Freddy Krueger Glove + Stand, Advice/Help Needed

Yes i think that was one of the first i saw when i was looking around.

Ok quick update!!

I went out and bought a Glove today from up the road for $9, very happy that it had the strap on it, iv'e also been doing a bit more to the stand and apart from attaching the small plaque at the front and doing a bit of work around the bottom of the copper pipe, its pretty much finished. I didn't really do anything to the Copper pieces themselves just lightened them up a touch, and i still need to attach the rings.

When i was burning the pine on the stand it actually gave me an idea to rub the glove on it to get it dirty and looking more weathered, so that's what i did, it's not completely finished yet but its a start.

Well seeing the glove on the stand i'm super pleased with it so far, i'm going to start work on the blades next, that's going to be to be a challenge but i'll get there, hopefully the rivets will arrive soon too so i can start fitting it all together.

Spectacular job on the glove!

Re: My Handmade Freddy Krueger Glove + Stand.

Yep, sawe that red, that sucks! Well, it's an option for those in the US.

Re: My Handmade Freddy Krueger Glove + Stand.

Thanks guys for the comments,

Robiwon i did see them and also these - Knifegloves.com - Blade Sets i was thinking i might just order some of the blades from RazorGloves (the top ones) and try my luck?? at the end of the day it's $17 (shipped here) and if customs seize them then so be it.

I'll still be making my own but i don't know how long it's gonna take me, i'll get them done one way or the other, i have plenty of steel ;o)

Re: My Handmade Freddy Krueger Glove + Stand.

Hey mate. I just ordered a set of the top set of blades from Razorgloves this morning. When they arrive I'll post some pics for you. Going to pick up the copper and brass sheet, brass rivets and a propane torch this weekend. I have my patterns printed out. Need to find a decent glove as well. Once I get everything I'll start my own thread.

Strange that you mention that but so did I :lol although I've had no conformation from them yet have you? I thought I'd chance it and see if they get through customs.
I may have to email them again and see whats going on as i ordered mine last week.

Anyway update time;

I have made the backplate slightly lighter and i think it looks better now, and i have also added the ring pieces to the fingers, i used epoxy glue to do them and not solder, iv'e also scuffed the Glove up some more, i'm not going to dye mine, i'll leave it the same color it is now and weather it some more.

I also now need to re-make the Palm on the hand for the stand as i have found out that the fingers are too close together, the glove fits on fine but once you start fitting the copper pieces on them they don't fit on so that's another job to do, but i'm waiting on the brass rivets for the glove so i might wait until they have arrived before i finish the stand, then i'll have more to work with.

I may start work on the blades Sat/Sun but i'm pretty busy so may not get much done.

Did you see my link u few posts up Gloves Online: : Kinco® Premium Grain Cowhide Drivers Gloves, Drivers Gloves or look in the gardening section of your local DIY store that's where i found mine.

I have lots of material left over too, so i'll probably make another glove when iv'e finished this one:cool.......why not eh;)

Cool, good luck on getting your blades. I have not recieved any notification on shipping either. I will give it a few days and then drop them an email. I fgure they do not have a bunch on hand and probably just make them when ordered.

What thickness of copper did you use? I'm picking mine up tomorrow. I'll also be scouting out Lowes for gloves too.

I sent them another email last night as it's been 5 days and iv'e heard nothing, i just want them to tell when they ship the blades because if they don't let me know they have been sent and customs seize them i'll never know.

Anyway i used 0.7mm for the fingers and 1.2mm for the back plate (not sure if you work in gauge) i filed the underneath of the back plate around the edges to make it look a bit thinner and bring it in line more with the fingers, it has a nice weight to it, i'm not sure what everyone else uses but i'm happy with mine.

Good luck with the build and don't rush it, will you be making a stand as well ?

Re: My Handmade Freddy Krueger Glove + Stand.

Thanks for the dimensions on guage. Hopefully you get your blades. You know, I was thinking about the old "file in an apple pie" for prisoners. If you can't get them, maybe I could incase them in a hollow plaster bunny rabbit filled with plaster and send them to you!

Not sure I will be making a stand. I have four cats, two dogs, and three grandkids that live with me. It will probably be hung high on the wall in a shadow box.

Did you use a rubber mallet to make the bends in the fingers? They look nice and smooth. Picking up my copper and glove today along with the other stuff I need.

Yes i clamped one half in a vice along with the pipe and used a rubber mallet then did the other half, i actually had a couple of pieces of ply inside the vice to stop the metal teeth from marking the copper, don't forget to use a slightly smaller piece of pipe for the finger tips, if you have some pipe that is too small just wrap some masking tape around it to make it bigger, i did that on one piece i had, it saves looking around for different sizes.

I actually started to make the blades yesterday, i got one done and found it easier than i first thought, although it did take me a while i'm happy with it, i'll start on another one today and get some more photo's up.

Good luck with your's, how are you going to age your copper?

Re: My Handmade Freddy Krueger Glove + Stand.

Quick update:

Iv'e been working on the Blades again, i now have 3 done more or less, i need to do a bit more work on them but there at least now cut out and looking ok, it's taking me a while to do them as i thought it would, i'm using a hacksaw for most of the work and a little bit with a small rotary tool.

I'm slowly getting there but i'm in no rush so it'll be done when it's done i guess, i still need to replace the palm for the stand and spread the fingers out a little more.

Anyway a few more pics:

Ringlets on and back plate lightened a little

I think i'll age the Glove more too at some point, but so far happy with the build:cool

Re: My Handmade Freddy Krueger Glove + Stand.

Your glove is turning out fantastic! I'm going to look for the gel you used. Where did you get it? Home improvement store?

Thanks;o) no I bought the gel online and picked it up locally, after searching for a while I managed to find some that was near me.

You can try the store near you but it's Jewelery/bead/craft shops that sell it, you can buy it from eBay/amazon as well, it's LOS Patina Gel, works really well though and get some Fine steel wool too for the copper once its been in the gel.

You'll need to have some water with bicarbonate of Soda in it for the copper pieces after its been in the LOS, it stops the Patina process.

Have fun.

Re: My Handmade Freddy Krueger Glove + Stand.

I emailed them his morning to see if they had shipped yet. Trying to get the package before my wife sees I spent more money online!

Lol, let me know if you hear anything? I've sent out two emails now and heard nothing, even though the site does say they will reply within 8hrs, I think it's pretty poor they don't confirm your order especially when you try and email them.

I ordered mine on the 12th, so ill give it another week and try emailing them again and if I still hear nothing, ill be getting on to PayPal and trying to get a refund.

But it's still early days yet so yes let me know how you get on. How's your glove coming along, have you started it yet?

Re: My Handmade Freddy Krueger Glove + Stand.

Went to the hobby shop Sunday for copper sheet. They only had one that was .06, not enough for a glove, it was about 4 inches by 6 inches. I will have to check Lowes for a larger copper sheet and the glove. No response from Razorgloves yet. Hopefully tomorrow.

Do you have anyone locally that sells Copper, apart from Lowes? i rang a few places up after searching on Google, and asked about off cuts i found it cheaper that way and of course way more sizes etc.. (somewhere similar to this place where i got mine from - http://www.georgewhite.com.au/default.asp)

My Rivets arrived today and i think they look pretty good, their already aged but i might do them a touch more to take any shine off them, i haven't put them on yet properly, i was just seeing how they looked in the photo because they will be too long for the finger piece's (see photo) so i need to trim them a little, they also don't seem very secure when fastened they tend to un-clip pretty easily so i'm going to put a bit of Epoxy in them to make sure they don't come undone.

Iv'e also started work on the new palm for the stand, i'll make the fingers wider to accommodate the copper and i'm going to get some brown shoe polish to age the glove more as it looks to yellow at the moment, also i have one more blade to do:wacko.

How the Rivets look before any aging. (Copper looks brighter than it actually is in the photo)

Re: My Handmade Freddy Krueger Glove + Stand.

No response from Razorgloves yet. Hopefully tomorrow.

I got a slip from the Post today saying that i need to pick up something they tried to deliver? maybe, just maybe the blades got here?? ( i told razorgloves when i ordered them to put them as Hobbyparts and not to mention any wording about razorgloves even on the invoice because of customs)
I have only got one other thing coming and that got sent from Hong Kong on the 17th so surely it won't be that.

I'll find out tomorrow i guess, if it is the blades then i'll have to make another glove lol

Re: My Handmade Freddy Krueger Glove + Stand.

Checking Lowes after work today. I'll google copper sheets as well and see.

Hopefully that is your blades at the post office!

Well if they are it means yours are on the way, it probably won't be but you never know.

Will you be soldering everything together? I'm still unsure how to attach my blades, i want to solder them but i don't want the copper discoloring any more due to the heat, so i'm going to have to do some testing on some scrap pieces, if that fails then i'll get some of this Epoxy - Super Glue Single Use Epoxy Metal 5 Min - Masters Home Improvement
It says it sets in a grey color but i'm thinking i could then get some silver paint which i already have and make it look like it's been soldered, but again i'll do some testing on scrap to see how it looks if i decide to go down that route.

Good luck in finding your copper and glove, can't wait to see yours spring to life.

Re: My Handmade Freddy Krueger Glove + Stand.

Thanks. The wife gave me my allowance for the week this morning, $100! So, I will definately hit Lowes and Ace Hardware after work today. No reply from Razor yet. I plan on soldering mine and then aging the copper afterwards.
