Ok, minor changes done and they've accepted the design! They quoted me $110 - thats probably because of the metallic fabric. Unfortunately, they're full up on orders until after Halloween, so I've got some time to work on the extra armor bits - whew! Also, I was looking at other things and I ~think~ I may have finally found a source for UN uniform pants:

I tried both navy and midnight BDUs from Rothco, but regardless of their pictures, they're waaaaay too dark. Once I get the suit, I may pick up a pair of those and see how they look. Oh, I might have found another patch source - I'll let you know if they get back to me and can make anything. I'd like to get another UN army patch and a Valkyries one too, but we'll see. I wish Cospa would reissue those...

Edit: Ok, wow, should have asked Canadians in the first place - I'll have a quote on patches tomorrow! Anybody else want one?

I don't think I'll need the pants, but primarily the suit, and $110 for the suit isn't bad at all. If possible, I'd like the final version of the suit with the details so I can work on it after October, since more free time then.

Just send it in an email to sale@zentaizone.com and let them know you were referred to get the same suit and what the original quote was - they should take care of you just fine. You're more than welcome to wait until mine arrives to make sure its going to come out how you want it. I'll post whatever patterns I come up with for armor and such too...if I can ever get around to it. I think I'm starting to over-swamp myself with projects finally

Also, my source on etsy already got back to me again! I ordered an extra one in case anybody wants it. If it looks good, I'll just send them Muv Luv patches, starting with the next two. Ack, I guess that means I need to finally order that jacket - far as I can tell, Yuuya's jacket is an MA-1 flight jacket with the waist and cuffs dyed black. ...Ooh!

The wiki has a great resolution Hakuryou patch, I'll have to get that done too - that'll be so much cheaper than the one I got before, OMG 0.o

Woot, got my patches! Here's the final result - let me know if this is good enough for you guys and I'll do a run of the UN & Valkyrie patches (well, in a month - I'm kinda broke 0.o)


EDIT: Also, do you want the 'fixed' "VALKYRIES" patch, or the original "VALKYLIES"? (I prefer the former, personally)

Nice links! I think I'd only seen one or two of those before. I'm waiting for Zentaizone to open up orders again, but I should be ordering my prototype of the design on page 1 shortly. If it looks ok, everyone should be able to order it without any trouble. I got distracted by other projects, but I'll try to get some patterns together for the armor bits and post them up here, too.

Ok, you want just a recolor or Yui's exact pattern? Neither one should be ~too~ difficult, I'll see if I can get that done - her armor is slightly more difficult, but not impossible. Any interest in the standard UN women's fortified suit, or maybe the white Takemikazuchi pattern?

Also, I'm having some trouble with getting the part of the armor on the face to work and I'm not crazy about how the other cosplayers have gotten it to work. I'm thinking of sculpting it and casting a part in DragonSkin and/or EcoFlex - you'd have to use an adhesive, but it ~should~ be stretchable enough. I may make two and see how they come out

Ok, so Yui's suit is quite a bit harder that I thought, thats gonna take me a little bit to finish. In the meantime, here are some others:

Yep, you can send the pattern and I think both ZentaiZone and ZentaiZentai will do custom orders - I just ordered my suit from ZentaiZone, so if you want to see how it looks before ordering one, I'll post pictures when it gets here. I want to make sure everything lines up cleanly as intended, I hope it works out

Gah, they're pretty limited in their colors - though, oddly enough, I think your Yui colors suit will work fine, Kaylus
The cost from ZentaiZone is $85 + $15 s/h, which isn't nothing, but it could be worse. Here are the color options I've gotten:
Black for the main body of the suit is fine
Purple or blue for the chest, metallic or lycra
Green or light blue for the ribs, metallic or lycra
..and here's the annoying one: (royal)blue or (light)grey metallic, or (dark)blue or black lycra for the alternate panels.
They do have a Mr. Fantastic suit that's metallic black on dark blue lycra if you want to get a sense of the look. The M.O.E figure of Takeru is kind of close to those color options, so I think I'm going with that. Any thoughts?

IMHO matt black and sniny (metalic) dark (navy) blue is better than vice versa. Or maybe matt black base with shiny black alternate panels?

Ok, big update time! First, I have two iron-on 'Valkyries' patches in progress - one of those is yours, Suzupin. I..still need to figure out how to do this here, maybe make a junkyard listing? Second, also for you, here's the UN Army patch - Yokohama Base ver:


And last but not least, I got my prototype suit today! Super fast turnaround on a custom order, so I really appreciate their work. Construction isn't too bad - a few loose threads here and there. Give yourselves a little extra clearance - its stretchy, but the seams can't handle too much stress. I added an inch to my measurements here and there and it was ~exactly~ the right size, though a tiny bit more clearance might have been nice. Well, the shiny metallics are less stretchy than the Lycra, so there is that too. Also, it looks like I have some alignment issues in my pattern, the ribs don't wrap far enough around, and the stripes on the arms are a little too thin I think, so I'm going to make some corrections. Sigh.
I'm not crazy about the back zipper, but I don't think the front or side entry will work either - leg entry maybe? I worry about the collar then, though, hmm. It did come out better than I expected, though! So, here are some pictures - I did focus a bit on the issues, but I do like how it came out. Also, I dunno about you guys, but I'm not running every night with Meiya like Takeru, so I'm gonna need a muscle suit insert >


Additionally, I'm still working on boots and gloves - I could probably kludge something good, but unless I can get a pattern or at least a mold out of it, it won't help anybody but me, so work in progress. What do you think so far?

Yeah, its a little wonky - more the letter than the spirit, I think. I may need to learn how to make actual patterns myself - I gotta figure out how all those Spider-Man guys get those complex patterns to line up... 0.o

Honestly, the chest area. The purple is blinding. But seems wearable. Looks like it's going to turn out great in this rate, providing the armor turns out well.
