Hey guys, Ive never got into these old films until now, but the other night I sat down and made myself watch the thing from another world.

Turns out I really enjoyed it!!!

Dont get me wrong, its all a little awkward compared to the 'modern' films im used to (im an 80's kid), but for atmosphere it was great.

So guys, what are some of the best of this genre?

Check these movies Out.

Oh if you like vincent price he has a ton out about this time including: The Tingler, The last man on earth (the first I am legend movie), the pit and the pendulum, the raven, and a few others like that. The incredible shrinking man is another good one, Invaders from mars is so so. George Pal's When Worlds Collide is another good one.

Horror of Dracula
The Curse of Frankenstein
The Mummy (1959)

It's neither horror or sci-fi but if you watch a bunch of the Ray Harryhausen movies that people have suggested you will definitely be interested in seeing The 7th Voyage of Sinbad

Excellent list so far!
I'm glad to see a new convert to the world of classic film! I tend to recommend everyone watch the classics to see what informs modern film and unfortunately what is sadly lacking from it.

Back to topic, check out Five Million Years to Earth, a.k.a. Quartermass and the Pit. A very interesting sci-fi film!! The film is from 1967 but once you've seen the 50's stuff this one is worth watching.

The Thing (From Another World)
:thumbsup x 1000. One of my all-time favorite films. It's truly one of the premier SF films and a great movie, period.

This film also proves that the ingredients for a superb sf film are a solid story and interesting characters, not million-dollar FX.

I never knew it existed until i found one of those 30 horror movie bundles at the store and it was in it. Another underrated one is Panic in Year zero. Not sure if it's on dvd but it's on youtube. It's surprisingly frank about things for a 1962 film. Henry Fonda in Fail-safe is another must watch and has a great performance from Larry Hagman. On the Beach with is a scifi drama with Gregory Peck and Fred Astaire of all people.
An interesting one that's not as good is This Is Not A Test, it's another post apocalyptic one. It's another that might only be on youtube at the moment. If you type in 1960s and 50s scifi there's a ton of films on there. A lot of them seem to have gone public domain because nobody wanted to admit to them lol.
We also can't forget Rocketship X-M which wasn't bad.

Eyes Without a Face - A truly original horror classic French film. A plastic surgeon kidnaps women and surgically removes their faces in an effort to transplant the tissue to the face of his disfigured daughter. Scared the bezeesus out of me as a kid.
