MR vader helmet owners: thoughts?

And how many years between ROTS and ANH? How long would you wear the EXACT same thing? There would be changes in the helmet, armor and clothing. Hes not Pee Wee Herman or Sponge Bob square pants.

:lol

I hear what you are saying but I still think ti should have had some resemblance to the ANH lid, but that's just my opinion.

Well originally I thought they should of kept the helmet more to the ANH offering in terms of style, give it a fresh paint job etc.. Lucas wanted the darkest Vader of them all for this scene. Was it? Err. No. Personally because the scene is more Anakin than Vader I am happy it shares barely no resemblance to OT Vader. It can make the detachment all the more better IMO. Saying that I can understand why it would make a fine display to join someone who has all the variations.

Certainly the ROTS Vader helmet is significant because that's when we see Anakin become the Vader we are familiar with. However, it remains a reworked version of the original OT design, which worked very well with very minor changes for the three OT films. It is still hard for me to rationalize from an artistic or creative standpoint what motivated GL to permit it to be changed the way it was. It had already been cleaned up by ROTJ but by then as well there was some sagging of the cheeks a bit from remolding. I could see a need to make one that fit Hayden since Prowse' head is so big. But the new dome is the same size as the OT one so the new faceplate looks smaller in relation to the dome. They could have scanned the whole OT helmet and downsized it for Hayden. Trisha Bigger is quoted to have wanted to make it symmetrical, but I wonder if that was really her choice or GL's or the prop department's choice. Oh well, it works in the movie and that's the main thing :).

I'm personally glad that Vader got as little screentime as he did in ROTS because I hated looking at that lid.

Having said that, I may add it to my collection one of these years just so I can have all the variants. But it will be a very low priority. I know, saying that seems quite contradictory...... :)

Come on now. To say the ROTS helmet looks drastically different than any other helmet is very weak. It is basically the same . 99.9% of the fans who have seen all the movies would say there is not a difference.

Its not like people see the Vader Helmet in ROTS and say "oh , who is that strange helmeted character?" ... because it looks like Vader. The basic recognizable features are the same.

I understand where your coming from and maybe 7+ years ago would have totally agreed with you.
But I have a Darth vader Marionette(sp?) from a small town in Mexico. I know it's vader, my wife even knows it's him. But the head is blue and white and he has a purple suit on.
The thing you have to remember is that the majority of us are not your normal average everyday movie fan.

Some may call us "cynical assh0les", but I prefer "detail oriented" .

Oh.... I have a vader ROTS helmet and love it:)

After paying off a payment plan, I received the MR vader ep. III helmet today. Overall, it makes a very nice piece to display. However, mine does have the following problems:

1) No paperwork, no numbered plaque
2) Two small scuffs on top of dome. However, I doubt many would see them.
3) I merely opened the box, constructed it and placed it on the stand, then while putting it away, I noticed that the suede-covered pad on the back strap busted through the stitching of the loops that hold it to the strap. The top stitching of both loops pulled right through the thin suede covering on the pad. One loop is hanging off and one is nearly pulled through. I didn't even try the thing on. Very poor quality.

Needless to say, I contacted my dealer. Again, it is nice once it's set up on display, but with MR, it seems that small easily resolved quality control issues always sour the experience. I must add that I never have these issues with Sideshow pieces, but consistently have them with MR.
