MR TOS Enterprise - new pics

Mine has been shipped back also due to lighting problems, bad connector is my guess, I also pointed out some nicks and glue spots, I don't know if those will be corrected or not.

I agree with the QC issue, dishing out 1900.00 was not easy for me and I expected more, with an investment as large as this one by MR, QA should play a much more important role than shipping on time... :unsure

So that is three at least going back, out of only a handful of various forum members that have reported getting one.

What was the lighting issue if I may ask?
Whole thing was intermittant or failed? or just sections of lighting?

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(UFP-1701 @ Jan 18 2007, 01:47 PM) </div>
It was the top of the Saucer Section, it would blink in and out if I moved it.

OH BOY. this is starting to sound like a design issue. Same area as yours CD.

Yep. Mine would not light at all. Weird it is intermittant on this one. I could never get it to work by moving or thumping it a bit either. You would think the power would be wired to the same as the other LEDs in the saucer and moving it would not do anything.

So, fixing this may not be a matter of busting the saucer open, finding the problem and rebonding, refinish and repaint. The problem could go all the way into the secondary hull where the power comes from.

Well,.. discussing things with MR yesterday,.. the Cust. Serv. Rep told me that my Enterprise would be arriving to their warehouse on Jan 26 for delivery to me early Feb. I then inquired about the quality issue, which they denied entirely,.. stating that if it is happening, that is probably happening with only the folks buying from other retailers. I'm thinking to myself at that point,.."Is MR really thinking people will buy that excuse?" I mean,.. it is still THEIR product that is being sold. No matter which retailer sells it for them. So I stated that to the service rep and she replied again,.."well,.. it hasn't been an issue with any pieces that we have sold direct."

Hmmmmm...

...So I cancelled my order.

Though the MR Cust. Serv. Rep was very pleasant to speak with,.. it was evident that MR is evading the question of what is being done about this obvious problem other than offering to replace any unit that has any problem. And that they do very well...from any retailer or customer as long as it is THEIR product.

I am not giving up on future MR items,.. I again joined their Collectors Society. I do have some advise for them, however...

Denying and evading the obvious only gives room to negativity that is NEVER good. Stop doing the evasive "damage control" and publicly take responsibilty for this item before it destroys you. Your PR person should've been on top of this from the start being that it was such an important item,.. being released immediately after the Falcon release and Corgi merge.

I will be watching carefully of how these orders are handled...and so will every other collector that keeps that business flowing.

I couln't agree with you more, Kurt, on the whole idea that an MR specialist should have been on the QC lines from the day the first ship rolled off the line for this extremely important and highly visible project. We should probably cut the front line Customer Service pawn a break though. The info we get from them is only as good as the infrequent memos that get shoved in their in boxes. It's a good bet that they probably are genuinely not aware of as much as we are.

So I doubt that they have actual "damage control" orders in hand. More likely they're just clueless - which is probably the biggest problem MR has right now. Their CS is for all intents and purposes non-existent. One MR axiom I have has never let me down. When you pick up the phone and dial 1-866-REPLIKA, the person with the most information on that connection is the one who dialed the phone.

Keep checking the MR forums. If MR goes into a real ground game of denial and damage control, you'll see it there first. AnyRep McPhoneDufus is just filling gaps in the conversation with his/her instincts right now and not directives from on high - IMHO.

Agreed,.. they have never let me down on any order I have purchased.

I also agree that the CS Reps aren't fully memo'd properly. ;) Maybe it is time to do so? :)

Like I said,.. I haven't given up on them,.. I just want to see better handling of the model that brought me into the sci fi world,..created and released the year of my birth. ;)

You're not going to get the same model back. They'll just send you a brand new one.

Hello Everyone.

I am going to have Bryan come in and address some of your concerns about the Enterprise when he gets back from New York. It should be within the next few days.

I can tell you that from a customer service standpoint, we have not had a lot of returns on these. I think we have had 4 come back to date. We have also never had as many people call us to tell us that a product is awesome as we have had with the Enterprise. Even more than the Falcon.

I am very sorry that a few people have gotten a product they are not happy with. As always, we will replace it for them or issue a refund, whatever they prefer. I just wanted to post this information to ease the minds of people that are still waiting on this piece. If I get more returns I will let you know if it becomes a big problem but right now the returns on this are pretty low.

Here is yet another one with lighting problems, one of my Buddies from the Playtrek Group:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"I opened it up and put it together easily. Turned it on and was amazed at the
nacelles. Then I noticed...
The center of the secondary hull doesn't light up. Uh oh. Smith genes strike
again (If there is a defective product on the shelf, a Smith will always buy
it). I started to freak.

I call up MR and tell the lady that I think my ship has defective lights. This
is what she said - "What's your order number?" I don't have an order
number. I ordered it through one of your authorized resellers. ""I
don't know if I can help you. Have you contacted the reseller?" Reseller?
No. Isn't the warranty through you? Doesn't it have a 90 day warranty?
"Yes, but I don't think we have any in stock to replace it with and it
would be too expensive to repair."

(South Park Kyle's mom's voice went through my head "Wh-Wha-WHAT?.?.")

Sorry if it sounded like a rant. I do really like the ship.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Turns out it was not the lights, but what concerns me is the Comment made by the Customer Service Rep at MR... After all, mine is on the way back as we speak...

I am not really feeling good about this at the moment...

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Atemylunch @ Jan 18 2007, 01:39 AM) </div>
Pushed back till February. That's not good news. Each week this is not out, is money lost by MR.
It's almost like there is a curse that follows these models. I know there isn't.

So when is it delayed now to??

Last I read here more were arriving mid of Jan. and shipping through Feb... Nothing about delays.

Where does it say they are being delayed?

Yeah, that is not cool.. and sadly problems with them are common. I suggest people call several times and try several different phone reps until satisfied. Failing that, go to the MR customer service forum on their web site.

Yeah, the middle lights on the secondary hull are supposed to be dark. I thought something might be wrong too, but I checked screenshots of the ship. That part of the crew must be sleeping :) I never noticed that before. Hopefully others will figure that out too.
Funny though if you watch the remastered TOS episodes, the CG Enterprise has some of those lights on now, but got rid of the strobes on the tail.

Love to see any pics he takes, or any QC reports on any buckled nacelle grills and such.

This number is useless unless we know how many they've shipped. If they have shipped 6 then 4 is a bad number. If they have shipped 400 then maybe it's OK. However a 1% fail rate in my business. celphones, would get somebody fired. Also incidental phone calls is hardly a measure of customer satisfaction.

Sounds like a PR guy and not a QA person.

Agreed. The question has been asked at the MR forum.

It's to bad MR isn't more honest with it's customers.
That failure rate, what did someone say, 4 out of 6?
That would mean about 3/4 of the production run will be defective.
I'll bet MR leadership is in panic mode.
They are putting on the PR face of, "Everything is fine, no problems here."

Message to MR, be honest in what's going wrong. You will loose less customers that way. We understand the difficulties of making these models. It's when you put out the pr-speak, is what we don't trust.

...and it
would be too expensive to repair."
My only reply would be, "Your kidding?".
"You built it, You fix it."

If it's to expensive to repair, then is MR going to scrape the defective units?
And build additional units beyond the offering.

They have a real nightmare on their hands.

I like Amy - but only 4 returns? Really?? Then we pretty much know about all of them from the RPF and a couple of other forums. Here's also a thought - some folks might just be fans that aren't as picky as us that got these so far. I loose piece here or some cracked paint there might not bother them and they keep their item. But again, for all us anal RPF folks - the MR big E better be darn near perfection. ;)

So far for me I have not been able to unobtainium one of these MR Enterprises and I am beginning to wonder if I will :( I have looked forward so long for this and with all of this crap happening now I am just disgusted. :(
