MR TOS Enterprise - new pics

Got my BLANK notification too. Will call tomorrow for a date. Too excited to speak..

Mine was blank also...

However,.. my account shows this beastie as "processing" now.

With all of the pics shown close-up,.. I am getting worried a bit, but I have learned that some pieces from MR just miss quality control for some reason... or at least it seams so at times with some of the pics shown of some of the other pieces folks have recieved. I am knocking on wood as I type this. LOLOLOL.

Bottom line is that I have yet to be let down by them, but there is always a first time, eh?

This is a good test to see if Corgi has effected the standard in any way. Corporate decisions often result in loss of quality for a healthier bottom line. Two major projects released so close to each other was a gutsy move... and had to cost an emense amount of money to make happen. I have already joined MR's 2007 CS... trusting all will be well. ;)

The close up pics look awful, there is bad moulding one would associate with an average resin kit and the paintwork is patchy at best, theres orange peel man :thumbsdown . They must be trying hard having two huge replicas out so soon in unison, but thats no excuse for the lack of quality.
Maybe its a one off, but man id be pissed to see that on one of my builds, let alone a replica of that cost.

I've never been able to understand MR's decision to put both the E and the Falcon out at essentially the same time...

There are so many reasons (and obvious reasons at that) why you would NOT want to do that as a company. But the main reason I'm annoyed is that I woud have loved to own both of these pieces, but as incredibly wealthy as I am, there is absolutley no way I could be in a position to have both hit my bank account at the same time.

So I'm stuck watchng one of them sell-out while I wait for the other to arrive. I know there's always eBay, but once an item like this sells out, prices sky rocket - not to mention the need to trust a third party with a purchase like this sight unseen, money up front.

I don't get it. Maybe they were rolling out arguably THE two most covetted items in Sci-Fi lore to woo Corgi.

I agree about the bad timing. I probably would of done the Falcon as well, but not at the same time as the big E. So I had to choose. I'm also a bit concerned over the quality showing from some of the closeups. This item is $1K plus depending on the version. It should be darn near perfect for that money.

Its called making money. This is the only motivator for any company, If you don't make money your out of business, its that simple.

But Steve, in your unbridaled quest to make money, you could be inadvertantly cutting out a third of your customer base who would like to have both by releasing two highly covetted pieces similtaneously - while cutting QC strength and availability as well with a poor business decision. So, you wind up making LESS money and screwing up your rep at the same time.

It's called strategic business planning and MR should look into it...

Look at their customer service department, need I say more.

Luckly for me I am not a big Star Wars fan so over the years I figure I've saved a lot of money with MR. Although I have always purchased two of every Star trek TOS item they have every made. So much for saving money...

I own a few MR models (the Nautilus, a couple Monorails, SE AT-AT) and everything is finished beautifully. This past track record is why I am trusting them with the Enterprise. But I gotta admit, those closeups are making me nervous. If mine ends up looking like this I'll be sending it back. :(

I own 14 MR Trek pieces and zero complaints, Of course I purchased all of mine through a great MR Rep (Plasma Infusion) and that helped. :)

I don't have a problem with the small appearance imperfections we have seen on two examples so far.
And I have eagerly waited the year all of us have. Though it looks like the one I was sent is slightly worse then TOSPROPSAREBEST's example. I expect them even in a high end model like this, because it is mass produced by the thousands by human beings, and most of them look like I can fix them myself at some point or they do not bother me enough to care.

Also the 11 ft studio scale itself is not exactly perfect either.
I am convinced if I had a time machine and shrink ray, stole the 11 footer out of CBS studios in 1969 and shrank it to 1/350 scale. There would be complaints about it.

These pics are extreme close ups people.

How well would any of our own work hold up to that kind of scrutiny?

If I had never heard of MR, and someone showed me this model saying they built it, I would be STUNNED at how accurate and well built it is. The imperfections are truly nitpicking. Then when I saw the warp effects I would have probably passed out.

Now maybe having a bit of a modellers eye makes me less forgiving, I think I have a fair idea what a b**ch it would be to pull this off myself. Though I suppose a master builder or purchaser of master built models would expect better.

But again mass produced by the thousands clearly much by hand.

As for what to expect for the cost, A custom build up in this scale, with this accuracy and this amazing level of lighting..... yeah, that would be some major money far more then 1200.00 bucks.

My recommendation if you want perfection, buy the MR for the cheapest price you can find, Then have a master builder fix any imperfections for you. You will still pay far less then if you started from nothing to get this scale, accuracy and warp FX.

Now, all that being said.

What I cannot accept is FAILED LIGHTING.

With only two examples so far, and one with failed lighting. What are the odds I got a freak failure?
Now I admit, I get "lucky" sometimes that way.

And I hope that my "luck" is only to blame, and it doesnt break my heart that I may get a better built example as a replacement, whenever that will be. I get baraged to join the collectors society emails yet no email on my return instructions.

Granted, having a shrink ray and time machine open up a possiblity or two I suppose. :lol

I have bought all the TOS props direct from MR. And very pleased with them. Were they perfect? no. Were they amazing? oh yeah.

Well put Cessna.... I agree 100% about the tight closeups... I think she's a beaut... can't wait to drool over her in person...

uh... that sounds wrong...

oh well...

As for the imperfections that folks are willing to accept or not? that is down to the individual customer.

I've owned many hand built expensive cars over the years and ALL had things wrong with them. Some I chose to live with for the sheer delight of having the car of my dreams, and some I chose not to. You pays your money and you makes your choice depending on your individual criteria. MR offers a money back guarantee enabling you to better exercise that choice.

As for the Enterprise and Millennium Falcon releases coinciding that was unplanned. The Falcon release was delayed slightly and the E's even moreso. I understand people's frustrations when MR launch two expensive products that they want to buy but have to make a choice over. It's never fun not getting what you want.

But hey, Aston Martin and Lotus have launched new cars I can't afford but I live with my frustration. Besides, the E and the Falcon are not sold out, so there's plenty of time to still get the one you're missing if you really want it.

The people who collect MR products are a broad church and MR deliberately try to appeal to as large a congregation as possible. Putting out two highly sought after models is a position any company wants to be in.

DB9 or the new Europa???

Hmmmm.
