IF I were to mod one, I would open up the windows in Nemo's parlor and add the interior. ...and some lighting...

Before - venturing inside the MR Nautilus they're are some details outside that deserve some attenion. The Skiff, Prop & Spiral Speed Indicator. Visit the Vulcania Volunteer VVebpage to learn more about them.
(the 1st linc - attached to my signature/use the lights to navigate to 'models')

Our own 1/72 Nautilus aka N-72 (with optional interior, figures & Giant Squid) is in the works.

IIRC the scale is 1/96.
I have one of Scott's 31" that is the same as the MR.
HO scale or 1/72 figures look fine and will fit the interior.

There have been aftermarket parts for the kit version including laser cut wood flooring for the bridge.

I haven't been over to the Nautilus Sub forum in quite a while so I have no idea if anything else has been offered.

I would love to get some photo etched stairs for both the bridge and the 2 access hatches if anyone ever offered them.

The MR model is 1/69th scale, IIRC.

I found a 1/72nd Nazi Sub crew figures set by Revell.

Not the PERFECT size, but pretty darn close. worked for me...

Some of the little dudes have sculpted clothing that is very close to the Nautilus crew. I recommend using those and you can just tweak them to match if you feel the need.

great tips so far

where could i get some interior stuff?
and some tipps on the figure or the base for them would be great too.

There are tons of 1/72 U Boat crew available even though Revell recently discontinued producing the Boat itself.
Try Squadron, Tower Hobbies, Mega Hobby.

Re: Interior - Here are some images of the Salon Settee (sofa)
& other Nautilus Interior details that I'm working on.
And while most all of them are in fact in 1/35th scale
(with the single exception being the accurate Exterior Salon Iris Insert in 1/72nd) -
all of these are going to eventually be scaned & grown in
1/48th & in 1/72nd scales respectively.

Will, I was re-editing my post in recognition of your contribution
just as you chimed in.
It's only because of the factual data that Will B., Rich A. & David McCamant provided me
that I am able to get as close as I do - to Real!
Thanx Gentlemen!!!

Darkside, I'm having trouble with my Email Reply so - if you permit me, I will reply here.
I have had numerous inquiries about my 1/35th Settee (couch / sofa) -
to be made into 72nd & 48th replicas, so this coming week -
I will inquire about scanning my 1/35 Settee so I can make small-replicas.

sounds great

and thank you for the work in these.

and guys how would you start and do the interior on the MR?

open both iris windows? and ...

regards and thanks

DS, This will be going into rubber-molds & cast in - approx. 2 weeks...

This project got away from me but is back in the loop! The pattern was completely reworked & features both types of Iris design on the same 2-sided part. A even more accurate interior pattern on one side & on the other side - the correct Exterior Iris pattern.
