just rec'd this email

To help answer a few of the emails we've been getting, Bryan Ono from our Star Wars division had this to say over at Rebelscum about our planned Stormtrooper helmet for 2007:
Here are some answers about the Stormtrooper helmet: For 2007, we will only making the Limited Edition. Here are the features: 1. Molded in Fiberglass. It is cast in 4 pieces: Face, dome, right and left ear. This is the way the original helmets were made, except for they were vacuum formed. 2. Wonky 3. Hero version 4. Bubble Lenses 5. Full padding inside (ala Clone Trooper) Hope this info is of some use.

Wow hadn't they originally said they were going to make 3 versions of that helmet? An EE a SE and a CE? Kind of a let down but I am pretty happy with the one they ended up with. I will be very interested to see how it comes out.

It's cool that they're doing the helmet....but haven't they yet to deliver on many of the clone and Vader helmets? Just seems like they should finish plowing that road before starting on another.

Depends on what you mean by deliver - all of the clone helmets have been
shipped (ok there are some of the plain white ones on backorder, but lots
are in circulation) and a lot of the Vader helmets have been shipped. I think
the Vader dual sig is the only one left to get out - ?

Still waiting on my plaque, think they need to take care of the problems they have before they make new ones for them selfs.

Pfft...I've been waiting on my plaque for my Vader ESB Saber for three years. Ain't happin' bro. You're more likely to see peace in the Middle East first.

That being said...since SDS made the perfect Trooper bucket ;) ...they need to move on to...oh, I don't know...since the Trooper and Tie buckets have been done to death...how about the AT-AT driver or Scout Trooper. Just some out-of-the-box here...say the RoTJ Vader Reveal.

Got my Vader DSE in Tokyo about 10 days ago.

I'm sure I'll get crap for saying this, but I was hoping they would still make a symmetrical version along with the "screen used" version. I'm all for accuracy, but I'd rather have a helmet that isn't "distorted" looking. Eh, that's just me though. :p

I would love to know specifically what they plan on using as the basis for their pieces. (ie. scan of real hero from the archives, molds taken off a fan made, then modified, etc...)
Not the marketing jargon, but the real deal as to where it comes from.

Yeah...It'd be interesting to know the source as well. I would think that LFL would give them access to whatever they have in the archives?....

Me too. I'd much rather have a symetrical version, too.

we'll probably never know... :(

but this definately has my interest peaked.

A WONKY FG HERO??? :eek

if it looks like a Gino hero or the like on the outside (all its wonky glory) i dont care what its made out of or what the padding is... B)

this could be cool....

could be.

we shall see...

and symetrical TK HELMETS??? :confused are you mad? :p

I am glad they are doing the assymmetrical version. I don't have too much of a problem with them being

done in fiberglass as long as the parts and assembly processes are the same as the originals. In fact, I am

kind of glad they are doing them in fiberglass, I already have some ST buckets in plastic and a couple SDS

helmets and they are pretty fragile. Even though I have them only for display it would be nice to see a more

robust fiberglass job as long as it is accurate.

Again, as Gino mentioned, it would be interesting to know what they are using for the basis of this helmet. I

am thinking probably a scan off the 'Hero' version from the LFL archives.

In any case, I AM IN ...

now if we had an idea of the price...

that and the fact that, werent the clone buckets one piece? and still had probs... what about a 4 piece construction... will that cost more to produce?

will they be more expensive???

and when will they be comming out... cause if they are what they should/could be im going to be on that list ASAP.

I can't see them being that much more expensive to produce if done in 4 pieces. It's just a matter of

screwing the parts together with small nuts/ bolts. Plus, I would imagine they will be made in China (cheaper

labour costs) where all the other stuff is made.

The only thing that worries me is the paint job. Because they are not going the Styrene/ ABS route (no paint

required) they are obviously going to have to paint/ varnish them. I wonder where they will find a paint

colour match? Haven't the originals yellowed over time?

oh god...

you might want to omit that last part... :confused

the paint is the least of my worries... and im sure that they could color match a paint to the original plastic... at least to what they were originally, selling a yellowed one is a bit far on the accuracy quest (did i just say that something TK could be TOO accurate?) i just wish that if MR was going to leak these little tidbits, they would be more speciffic. and you know there is a prototype... let us see it... :(
