MR 501st 1:1 helmet

Regarding the Ep IV standard stormy helmet, what's with the 'stye' on the lower lid of the left eyepiece? It may be 'canon' but it's annoying and preventing me from buying it...

Me tu.

I am no "purist", the flaws are a result of human failings probably due to short deadlines and budget. They are fine for Screen used pieces,..but I want my goodies idealized.
That is, made to look like they would be if they were "real". Does anyone make a TK helmet that is close to accurate yet symmetrical? I like symmetry.

It isn't canon anyway as that is a feature which appears on the stunt helmets where the hero helmets did not have this feature, the MR is supposed to be a hero helmet.

And this has to do with the thread...how?

:rolleyes

Correct me if I am wrong but the 501st is the same as the Spec Ops just weathered.
Since MR is no longer going to produce Star Wars items why dont they do a different paint scheme based on some of the hasbro figures.

Mace Windu Battalion - Combat engineer - Fifth Security

and so on....

A Cody would not be that hard to do

501st is special ops all they've done is added scratches like it was in the movie instead of pristeen like their previous release, Cody would mean investing in new tooling/moulds can't see them chucking money at a licence they won't be renewing.

Look familiar?

:lol

(I never took pics of them dirtied up - just painted and chipped. I figured "hey - when they get released, I'll have those pics! and here we are, two years later! yay!)

I painted two of these for MR in August of 2005... back when the plan was to have "weathered helmets, period". Uuuunnngh. So many possibilities and "paths not taken"...

symmetry is good. It stops resembling a stormtrooper though. The best example is the don post helmet. You can mirror the face and 100% symmetry but to me nothing looks even close to what I expect to see when I look at a stormtrooper when it is made symmetrical. I'll take accurate any day.

O.k. when 'they' say weathering, will it be more than chipped blue paint? I think of dirty when I hear weather...and now I'm getting a headache.

I'm with you on the weathering question. Just some gouges and paint stratches don't look right. It needs some damaging/weathering done to the white parts of the helmet, too, to come close to looking right.

Read what I wrote, fellas. I dirtied them up - just didn't take pics of them finished, as I thought they were going to get released/photographed by MR.

Soooo, the ARE dirty. That pic represents them "in progress" from when I did the deco in 2005. :lol

Well, sorry. Even though I didn't say it I was referring to the MR pics. I have a 32 inch LCD computer screen and I had a hard time telling if they were dirty. Maybe it was because I was still asleep but it was hard to see the cheeks/ear caps dirty. I just wished you could enlarge the MR pics, as well as have multiple angles.
