That reminds me, I have to check how easy/hard they are to remove. May be best to leave them off if those are rivets or push-pins (didn't check teecrooz's original).

Well, can of worms/rabbit hole here. The ESB/ROTJ one still has the rivet posts sticking up a bit off the surface of the hilt, not just empty holes. You can't unsee it once you check the reference pictures!

Agree with Teecrooz.
I also believe the ANH has the posts as well.
The Chronicles ANH photo seems to show light reflecting off the tip of the posts.
