Re: <<< MPP >>> anyone?

Probably a bit of anodisation on the bars, even no color, and the shape is probably rough from extrusion or so.
I don't think they kept the aluminum rough, just to avoid corrosion.

Re: <<< MPP >>> anyone?

Yeah, that's a fine glass bead finish. Use it all the time at my shop. Probably clear anodized too if those bars are aluminum

Pretty sure the bars are aluminum.
There are scraping lines from the lever. Theyre under the washer so you cant see them. The exposed raw metal doesnt look like steel.

Ill have to double check when i get home.

so, are we saying that these were bead blasted metal also?

Considering the overall crappiness of the reference photo, I'd probably say that it's still a possibility.

The problem is that I don't think I've ever seen a MPP with the silver sidebars where the sidebars were actually chromed. That's not to say that that variant doesn't exists, but for all of the real MPPs that I've seen, had, found references for, there are only three known variants:

  • rectangular and ovoid in bare/anodized aluminium
  • rectangular and ovoid in black anodized aluminum
  • trapezoid and angled in smooth black anodized aluminum

Now there are guys on here that have own/seen first hand a lot more MPPs than I have so perhaps they can chime in if they've ever seen a chromed sidebar variant.

Edit:

Here are my two variants side by side:

Re: <<< MPP >>> anyone?

My experience has been the same.

I did see one person remove the black anodizing off of the ovoid black anodized ones and then polish the metal that was underneath. I can't seem to find the pictures of that, but as far as I know it is not one of the original finishes.

Re: <<< MPP >>> anyone?

Can someone post pictures of the EE-3 engravings? Each of my MPPs had different engravings. One engraved and not painted, and one that looked more like they were stamped and painted. I need to know the options to send to Roman. Thanks!

This is about as good a photo as I could get of the engravings on the Fett blasters flashtube. Less someone has something better in their private collections. Its really hard to see them, especially in the earlier production photos where it's covered in a ton of weathering
If I had to guess it's probably most likely the deeper/more stamped looking engravings

I knew I had this picture somewhere... Here's the personal MPP (and Graflex) of the guy I bought my first MPP from... he sanded down his sidebars...

That looks the most like the parts of SW ANH pic more than any other version I've seen.

The ANH pic has rectangular bars though, not the trapezoid bars.

Rather than hijack Romans thread its
Probably best to continue the discussion here -

Just a suggestion.
