MPC Speeder Bike

Looking good! I remember seeing this kit at a K-Mart when I was a kid and drooling over it! Biker scouts are my favorite trooper design from the OT.

Thanks, I always see this kit on ebay and both of the one's I got were under $16 bucks with shipping.. Just waiting for my filter for air brush to come so I can finish painting the scout.

For my second Speeder Bike build I am going to have the scout holding his blaster gun.. I scratch built this today and wanted to see what you guy's think of it..

Thanks!

Thanks, made a change to the top and ave painted. I can't believe the time that I have put in this little blaster today.. It's pretty small I have the arm cut and together to hold the gun in a different pose than the model intended. Here is a pic of the gun finished and painted,, new to scratch building any way that I could of made this part better please comment..

A new build that I have been working on is the MPC Speeder Bike. I have reseached the internet on this kit and picked it up on ebay for $8.00. Made in 1983 it was so cool and it sort of took me back to when I saw "Return of the Jedi" as a kid.
Deciding on a color scheme for this kit was great some people have come up with really creative color's for both scout and bike. I want to get another one eventually just to change it up. I am new to model building but after getting started a few months ago I am constantly buying and building. I researched the color's for this kit and found a great green/grey and painted over with a rust brown. I have been trying to think outside of the box a little, inspiration from this site. So I found a case that was for a external hard drive and thought it would make a nice seat cover.
I have a lot of clean up and work and can't wait to continue this weekend.
Thanks for looking next project is going to be a FM 1/48 x-wing fighter.

If you are new to model's or an old vet please post pictures of your work and some detail of the build..

Thanks,

Mike

Over the past weekend I made an attempt to do some painting but noticed that my airbrush was shooting a bit over water out. My shop one of the room's in the basement of my home. I guess moisture is a problem so I ordered a filter that I will connect to the hose on top of the filter I have..
I did some touch up painting on the bike tonight here are some pic's, another one of these kits came in the mail yesterday sealed ad the origanal price tag on of $8.00, and ad a mark down sticker of $2.00 purcased from JCPenny...
This is my third model I ave ever built and really enjoyed every second of it.. great hobby if you visit this site and think about getting into model buiding you can't go wrong in picking up this kit on ebay for like $8.00 it has taught me a lot and I can't wait to build the new one.. and paint a grey and green scout.

Thanks,

MY

Looking Good Mark!

I want to make a diorama for this build I have some great ideas and hope that I can create what I envision. Anyways, the scout is done but do to some airbrush problems not so much the spraying part but getting the paint thinned correctly and a second trap on my line and I now own I Iwata airbrush.. 45 dollar master g23 = junk!!
So as everyone has said this kit is rough I used plenty of putty, sand paper, and time.. And since it was a cheaper kit this was the first model that I made modifications to.

What I've done: I extended the top of the bill of the helmet, removed the head and remounted so that it will turn in any position. Scratch built the gun and reconstructed the arm to hold in position. Made the top of the pack, mouth piece and thinned around the helmet.

I will include more pics when and if I get the diorama complete..

Thanks for all the advise and looking at my work!!!

After posting these pictures and taking a good look I noticed some mistakes I made with detailing... For instance around the arms I need to paint black.. I should have noticed this before going to correct this and may put a corrected picture up tomorrow..

Thanks,

This is one of my first builds and I really did a lot of work on it.. I changed the helmet, changed the arm that is holding the blaster, made the blaster from styrene, cut off and re worked the scout head and yea this def taught me great deal and I still got lots to learn.. Since this was brought up from the past I may take some better pics of it finished and post tonight.

Hey, you can polish a turd and that's kinda what I did here,, but again it was a fun build as I got my start in modeling this was one of the first that I cut and changed and really modified the kit.. So in the end does it really look that bad??

You need to lower the whole pedal assembly so the Scout can sit, unless it was intentional to have him stand up.
