MPC Snowspeeder with 3.75 inch figures

I always liked the fact that you have to amputate your legs to be a snowspeeder pilot, so I just took it a bit further.
For some reason I also can't decide on what colour the snowspeeder really should be. There's just too many light greys out there. Would appreciate tips on that.

Thank you! I've been looking for a good inspiration-thread for this build but hadn't found one until now. Going through som "snowspeeder"-titled threads I though did manage to find someone saying humbrol 129 is a perfect match for the mr-snowspeeder. One of the just about thirty colours I have. Lucky me, no mixing.

Best advice i can give on paint is Tamiya Sky grey, mixed to about 30% white. Warm it a tiny bit with some deck tan too, all by eye really, but its what i used on my Rogue Leader!

Thanks for the advice! Most people here seem to work with tamiya but all my local stores only stock humbrol-cans.
Here's the first test with humbrol 129:

And another pilot shot.

I disassembled and stripped down my original model (1980's)
Sanded it smooth then engraved the panels and added a few of the raised panels near the engine.
Pix here.

Haven't touched it in ages.
I plan to use these Brickwork MaK figures since they are really close to the scale of the model.

Nice! I was thinking of putting in brassrods for guns but now I think that'll have too wait for the MPC X-wing. And yeah, my 1/18 men are maybe a bit on the large side as they would be around 8 feet tall. Still it's very neat to get so detailed figures so easy.

What's most annoying to me now is the middle section of the guns which are not very accurate. Probably I'll just leave them be though.

Spilled half of my 129 humbrol, so I thought what the heck and just painted it all, with my biggest brush as fast as I could. Of course it came out way to glossy so I had to sand it a bit. Who knows what I'll do next.

This almost makes me want to dig out my old 'speeder kit and start building., Maybe I'll wait until your done.

Thanks!

Looks nice! What's the story on the pilot figures?

I had an old 80s Kenner Pilot-Luke just laying around so I thought maybe he could drive this thing. So then I had to go on ebay and look for another one for harpoon gunner, and found those two detailed pilots cheap. I think they may be from the hasbro legacy collection.

Next step I think'll be practicing chipping technique.

Began working on the grey markings and some of the panels that should be a bit darker. This is my first serious try at weathering anything really so it will probably take it's layers of paint. Sanding worked more effective than I'd hoped, so for now the plan is, like Karate Kid, paint-on, sand off, paint on, sand off.
The last step will be the oil-paint grime, and dirt-thing with thinner. Did wonders for my Millenium Falcon.

Put on a few decals, painted some more panels, and fixed the front air intake which should be a rectangle and not trapezium.

Done some work on the stand.

and put some fins on the front underside.

Now it's mostly weathering left. And putting it all together with glue ofcourse.

Thanks, shadowlova!
Now I've put her together and glued (almost) everything shut. Done some weathering and put on Luke's mustache. Haven't had the time to take any good photos of it yet though so here's just a sneak peek:

The extra bits on the back of the gun mount look good!

Is there any reason you went with the grey accents rather than the usual orange?
