Re: Movies you have cried watching

I saw Elf for the first time last night...and cried.

Cried while watching It's a Wonderful Life on Saturday.

Um...

I bawled at the beginning of the new Star Trek when Kirk saves this family

Up

Field of Dreams when his dad comes out....every f'n time.

Probably 100 other movies. I cry a lot it seems.

Re: Movies you have cried watching

Several movies I saw when I was about 9-11 or so, and they really got to me at the time. They were:

- The Dirty Dozen

- Dances with Wolves

- Glory

As an adult:

- The first time I saw the opening sequence of Saving Private Ryan. I literally had to turn off the VCR (saw it on VHS the first time), and take a few minutes to pull myself together.

- The Muppets (2011) had me misty-eyed multiple times throughout.

There have been others that get me a bit choked up/misty-eyed, but only one film in the last 20 years has made me openly weep:

Big Fish.

I don't care how much of a "real man" you are. I defy ANY MAN to watch that movie and not be reduced to full-on tears at the end.

I about lost it in the movie 1408 when his daughter came to him. I can't take it when they use kids against you. No hope man.

Re: Movies you have cried watching

Boromir's death scene in The Fellowship of the Ring ALWAYS gets me. Every time I watch, I think I've seen it enough times that I'll get through it. The acting from both Viggo and Sean are superb there, IMO. Just the look on Aragorn's face as Boromir talks... the way he starts to tear up - and how they finally respect one another and feel truly united for the first time - and then that music... man, it's gettin' to me just thinking about it...

Re: Movies you have cried watching

I actually stopped watching UP about 6 minutes in because I didn't want to see the rest of that first scene. :lol

I purchased Blow on bluray (insert blow joke here) a few months ago, and finally got around to watching it. I cried forever at the last part of the film. The subject matter is very close to me, actually...it's the opposite of my situation...so it sort of gave me an insight of sorts, which really killed me.

I also cried at the end of BSG with Roslin and the house. The fact that the only TV show I had ever been emotionaly invested in was over also helped, but the scene really got me.

Re: Movies you have cried watching

I've mentioned before that this seems to happen to me a lot more often as I get older. But here are some of my more prominent choices:

The Green Mile (“He killed'em with they love…”)

Armageddon (“Looks like I’m gonna have to break that promise…”)

Saving Private Ryan (“Tell me I'm a good man?”)

STII: The Wrath of Khan (Spock’s death/funeral)

LotR: Return of the King (crowning of Aragorn, “You bow to no one…”)

Chronicles of Narnia: LWW (Aslan’s death/resurrection, the coronation of the children)

I Am Legend (Sam’s death)

Lady in the Water (“I miss your faces, they remind me of God…”)

Signs (“Tell Merrill to ‘swing away’…”)

The Iron Giant (“Superman…”)

Forrest Gump (“...I won’t be far away.”)

The Passion of the ****** (“See mother? I make all things new…)

Also, sometimes certain pieces in the musical score of a film will make me tear up. Off the top of my head:

Batman Begins

Chronicles of Narnia: LWW

Chronicles of Narnia: PC

Conan the Barbarian

Gladiator

Meet Joe Black
