Movies that make you cry.

Lots of great scenes listed here that I'd forgotten....

Have to agree with the SG-1 episode where Janet Frasier dies.

In movies, the ones that popped into my head before I started reading this thread are going to sound stupid by comparison, but here they are.

The scene in Independence Day where the dog barely makes it to safety before the fireball hits... chokes me up every time.

Dog In a Fiery Tunnel - YouTube

And the ending of "Frequency" when Dennis Quaid's character is brought back into the present-day timestream and saves his son from the killer in his house. Then it goes into a happy ending montage set to a sappy Garth Brooks song and it's all over. Hand me the tissues.

Secret of NIMH. Mrs. Brisby's home is sinking into the mud with her children still inside and there's nothing anyone can do about it. Even when being pulled away from the futile effort, she did not quit. Then the stone appears, she grabs it and Jerry Goldsmith's music takes it from there.

:cry

The Fly (1986)

Poor Seth. :(

Watched it tonight for the first time in maybe 15-20 years! Jeff Goldblum really should have been nominated for a Best Actor performance- I really think "Seth Brundle" is the pinnacle of his career.

However it was Geena Davis' breakdown during the climactic mercy-killing of Seth (not "Brundlefly" as she can still see what little of human is left in him), that had me welling up. Her acting was stellar; didn't seem forced or over the top.

It's interesting to see what array of movies tug on heart strings for people.

Night before I watched Time Travelers Wife again and cried, again. The worst for me is The Notebook I'll cry about every little thing that happens for a solid week after watching that movie. Hits home due to my Grandmother a bit too much for comfort.

The Time Traveler's Wife was one that got me at the end.

LOTR-ROTK at the end is tough.

When I was a little kid, my parents brought me to the drive-thru and I cried when they shot King Kong. I cried all the way back to the car!

There's a scene in Rocky 5, the worst in the series IMO, where Rock has a flashback about Micky training him and giving him a Marciano cuff link. Every time I see it, I ball. Idk why.

Gladiator

The end of the movie, after Maximus kills Commodus and both their bodies are laying on the floor of the colosseum - the senators and Commodus' sister come out on the floor while the Praetorians lift Maximus' body up and carry him out while the crowd cheers, all the while leaving the corpse of the frigging Emperor ignored in the dirt.

The power of that scene, the honor afforded a slave in direct contrast to the the total neglect paid to the Emperor gets me every time. I LOVE that scene!

Kazaam (With Shaq) A delightful tale of a boy and his genie, with an oscar worthy performance by Shaq himself.

Movies you have cried watching

I don't care if you are chuck norris or hulk hogan ,we have all cried during one movie or maybe even two. But..... which movies?????

For Me, Toy story 3. I actually don't know one person that didn't cry at the end of that movie.

Re: Movies you have cried watching

Happens to me all the time. I get sucked into the story, so when it starts plucking at the heartstrings, I fall apart.

Re: Movies you have cried watching

I'm a great big sentimental sap. I remember when I first saw Jedi and I cried at the end of that. I will cry at anything that plucks at the heart strings, but the movie that probably got me the worst was as you said earlier. Toy Story 3 - It was the moment when you could tell that they had accepted their fate... Man I was balling my eyes out that day.

Thankfully I went with my Godson and not a date.

I didn't cry at that part, I cried at the end when andy was handing over the gang of toys.

Re: Movies you have cried watching

ET when he "dies"
Toy Story 3 when Andy gives his toys away

For some reason I'm a sucker for final episodes of TV shows. I have no idea why, but they always get me.
