Does anyone have thick lightsaber blades, such as Luke's ROTJ? In the sail barge sequence it is an example of how on screen it is as thick as a soft drink can. "get the gun! point it at the deck!"
Please lets see your thick blades if they're out there.

For something like that, you'd need to have an inner blade that would still fit into the saber (usually 7/8" or 1" from what I've seen).
A larger outer diameter tube probably wouldn't illuminate as well without some serious power.

Serious power for a serious prop replica. Perhaps something for the future and hopefully not too distant. Just think of yourself hitting the activator on that. Safety first of course. ...or you'll cry out like you've just been blasted in the hand too.

I've found that when you have a REALLY bright LED (like 5w vs. 3w) in the hilt the blade can look as wide as the hilt just from the brightness. In my opinion 3/4" blades look a little thin (and get bendy when dueling) but 1" blades look plenty big... I doubt you would want to exceed that.
