Movie Shotguns

IIRC, Hicks' shotgun is an older model Ithaca 37 Stakeout.

And I do belive Reese's Terminator shotgun was an Ithaca 37 too...

The one the preacher uses in 'Dusk til Dawn' - has a funny foregrip on it if i recall, he sticks something through it to make it into a cross..

It had a wide handguard on the pump, he used a bat to make it a cross. Holy loads of lead :)

theres the shotgun from blade trinity, which was actually a heavily modified double baqrreled german flaregun from WWII

the shotgun from i, robot which i believe was built off of a tokyo marui SPAS-12

and the shotguns in Outland... which i think are brownings, and have a huge scope mounted to them.

theres also one in Pitch Black that Johns had that i liked a lot, but i couldnt tell what the base gun was.

Vera from "Firefly" was originally made for the movie "Showtime". It wasn't a very good movie.

A favorite back in the 80s was a modified Remington 1100 that was made for military and law enforcement. It was named Sidewinder SW-PC, and could be had with, or without an telescoping shoulderstock. It was "the Kid" in "Jake Speed", Sam Jones's 'pistol' in "The Highwayman". With the shoulderstock, it was Clarence Boddicker's shotgun in RoboCop. There's more, but those are the three that come to mind.

A favorite of mind is the High Standard HS-10 ( http://world.guns.ru/shotgun/SH26-E.HTM ). I Can only think of a couple of movies that it has been in, although I am sure it was in more. It was Shaft's shotgun in "Shaft's Big Score" ( http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0069257/ ), and it was also in a very bad sf movie, name "Creature" ( http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0088961/ ).

Of course there is the double barreled pump shotgun, used by homer simpson and others. Totally unbelievable, until I saw the cover of a DVD that had Rosie Perez holding a silver sawed off double barreled pump. Probably didn't really work. I looked her up at IMDb but couldn't find the movie. Something about the devil. It must have been so bad it was erased from existence.

That would be Perdita Durango, a k a Dance with the Devil:

God talk about bad movie cover art and art department bs.I think the one shotgun I remember the most was not from the movies but from the old Miami Vice series when they were in NYC and they used the modified Rem 870 pump.I think it's moniker was the G-Man( trade name) but I'm not really sure? Any ideas? :cheers :thumbsup

I may be crazy but I remeber a movie with Jimmy Dean (the sausage guy ) where he had a four barrell shotgun. Movie wasnt great but a cool gun. Anybody know what the movie was called?

Could it have been "Big Bad John"? It if was an over/under four barrell, then it could have been a Howdah pistol. The Howdah pistol was, basically a cut-down Express rifle with one, two, or four barrells. Not all were pistols either, and they could be fired one barrel at a time, or all together. They were designed to stop Tigers that attacked the Elephants of hunting parties in India. The man in the back of the Howdah (the basket that you road in on the Elephant, hence Howdah pistol) of the last Elephant carried the Howdah pistol to stop, and drop any leaping Tigers.

I was watching Romancing the Stone on encore today, and low and behold, Jack T. Colton is using a LEFT HANDED remington 870.

I had always thought he used an Ithica with a remington pump grip!

But, when he's reloading while Joan Wilder is trying to cross the bridge, you can see the ejection port.

Then, he fires before swinging, and the shells sure enough eject out the side of the gun (toward him, as he's firing right handed).

I think that might qualify is the one and only left handed 870 ever used on film.

I wonder why it was used?

If I recall correctly, David Ducofney (or however that's spelled) and his friends used shotguns in Evolution, especially on the mall scene.

Don't forget Rutger Hauers Remington 870 in "Wanted: Dead or Alive"

I already had the Shot-gun, saw the Movie and added the grips.

And, one of the weapons carried by John Matrix in Arnols Schwarzenegger film Commando was also a shotgun. A Remington 870, according to Wikipedia.

SPAS-12 is the slickest looking shotgun out there, but I swear Terminator is the only film where it was used as an automatic. It was in Jurassic Park, The Matrix, Beverly Hills Cop 2, always used as a pump.
In The Wraith the ghost had a shotgun that I think was a SPAS with added wooden grips and accents, as well as a LED display.

the spas is useed a lot...

the pulse rifle in e.g. Aliens is not a shotgun, it has a pump action 20mm grenade launcher....

Never heard of a LH shotgun... Only thing I ever knew of for southpaws was the Randall Arms 1911 clone with the port on the left years ago...

Could it be he was actually firing left handed and they flipped the film during post production, thusly reversing the image? I know they did that in one scene of ROTJ with Boba Fett in Jabba's court; BF's helmet rangefinder and gauntlets were on the wrong sides...

Well, I thought of that too. I don't think so. They'd of had to do it to every single shot of him with the shotgun, which is quite a lot of footage. He does a whole bunch of stuff with it in several scenes. I just don't see them flipping all of it.

They show the right side of the shotgun a bunch of times, including closeups of him reloading, which is why I thought it was an Ithica with a Remington foregrip, because the right side of the gun has no port.

Left handed 870's exist. I very nearly bought one off of gunbroker.com. I have no idea how many were manufactured, but Remington makes left handed bolt actions too.

At one time you could get any rifle, or shotgun that Remington manufactured in a left-handed model. You had to order them, as not many shops stocked them, but you could get them.
