Most Economic Storm/Clone/Snow/etcTrooper armor?

I'm considering liquidating my props to work on some armor for Halloween. I've seen FX armor on ebay fo $600-ish minus soft parts/blaster. The original Stormy is most iconic/recognisable to non-fans, so that lures me. I'm pretty fond of the Snowtrooper Commander, but I worry about heat, and I love several of the Clones, esp. from the animated series. I'm guessing the Biker Scout would be most comfy, and I'm guessing cheapest? If that assesment is true, then that'd be what I lean toward...

...although I am fond of kev's new animated Clone...schaweet! If he offers them, that is.

What'll have the least ouchy on the wallet, you figure?

I would not buy clone armor from ebay. Please do not buy anything from ebay. You're likely to get recast or total crap (or both). Honestly, on an economic basis, a basic FX kit is your best bet and its way easier to put together than any Clone.

I saw a really nice FX suit with helmet liner, ABS glue, instructions, etc. 100% positive feedback...it looked like he was on the up and up. How can I tell? If not, where else do I buy a suit (and maybe for less money)? PM me if you want to be on the d.l...

FX is pretty much the only thing I'd consider buying on ebay though if you go to the forums over on whitearmor.net you can usually find it $100-$200 cheaper.

I say go for the Biker Scout. I've been working on mine for a while, and I haven't reached $500 dollars yet. I have the Suit, Cummerbund, Helmet, Armor, Gloves and Blaster. no boots yet, though. (and the suit is too baggy for me now) Of course, I'm not working on it right now because I've got other important things to do. However, If you're interested, I can PM you a couple good makers, and if you also like, I also have pics of my armor.

I believe you should buy the best that you can afford you will only regret it later if you don't.
I started out on an FX suit and lid, but they are not screen accurate and way oversized. I soon realized that this was not what I wanted and promptly sold it on.
I now have a set of AP armor which is a challange to piece together but far more accurate and a set of TE armor which is I believe the basis of the AP suit. TE is no longer producing suits and sold his molds to a guy who sells by the name of TE2.

AP is shiny white ABS and just pieces together and your done wereas TE2 will need painting as it is made from HIPS.

Both have upsides and downsides. AP is more durable for trooping and TE2 is a sharper pull so better detail.

Another thing to remember is that ST's were all fairly slim so a more accurate suit will not fit the larger framed person so this is why some go for the FX as it will be more forgiving.

Another fan sculpt(questionable) is the TM armor which again is very accurate.

There are others but some homework will help with your descision.

Pop over to the FISD forum you will find all the info you need there and everyone is very knowledgable and helpful.

Hope this helps.

What Mark said.

If you can afford it, go for the best, or you'll just end up regretting it.

My Vader is three years in the making and still missing a few components, but I know when its done I'll never have to upgrade a single part, unless I want to be super duper crazy anal about it...

how's it goin'.

Hey Mark, I'm fine.

Its super hot here though due to the El Nino effect...

We better take this to PM or we'll get spanked by the mods :p

I'd go for AP, if its something you know you will troop in, trooping in a TE/TE2 suits is obviously possible but everytime I've worn mine I've been terrified of it breaking, from what I hear the AP is thicker, more durable whilst maintaining the correct 'look' I admit I'm not a fan of the FX at all but to each their own :thumbsup

Don't go spending $600 on a suit of FX armour, there's a guy auctioning a set in the JY right now, starting price $200 and no bidders last time i looked, no helmet with it but trust me you don't wan't that helmet.
If you can sew all the soft parts a Scout is an affordable costume too, if you're buying in all the soft parts costs add up.
