Most Accurate 10th Doctor (Tennant) Suit?

Hello! I'm looking at getting a brown "Tennant" suit made, and I wanted to know how to get the most accurate suit I can get, short of miraculously obtaining the original GAP trousers...Most of the reviews I've found don't go past 2010, and I wanted to know if things have changed?

The general consensus seemed to be to buy the fabric from Magnoli Clothiers and have Baron's Boutique make the suit.

Are the pinstripes on Magnoli's fabric spaced more accurately, now? Is Baron's colour better these days? Which one is patterned more accurately to the original suit?

I know it's a lot to ask, but any help and/or input would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Bard

Magnoli for the brown, all the way. Risu could tell you how accurate the stripes are now, but I compared my suit to the real thing in cardiff last year, and it looked pretty darn close.

Tailoring - one thing I would absolutely do is look at the length of the jacket on Tennant and measure how long it would need to be on you to sit in the same place. 10's suit jacket is extremely short and this is one of those details that's hard to fix afterwards.

So you're suggesting Magnoli for the fabric or just making the whole suit? Because I've seen a lot of people say that Baron's pattern was a lot closer to the actual suit...but then, that was 2 years ago. Has Magnoli's pattern gotten closer?

I haven't seen the new Magnoli pattern - I had one of his wool 10nnant suits a few years ago. But you'll love wearing the cotton fabric, it's really comfortable and you can muck around layering different shirts and tshirts, ties etc. Great garment.

Go on YouTube and look for a channel called Tenth Doctor Matt, it'll show you all you need to know, the fact is that if you want the best Tennant suit available you go for Magnoli all the way, his products are some of the best clothing you'll ever find. I've botten most of their Tennant ties and there near identical. They have also recently done a more accurate revesion of the suit which you can find on Facebook.

I've wondered about the updated Magnoli suit as well. It seemed the consensus before was to buy the fabric but get it tailored at BB. I know Magnoli were updating there pattern and it looks good to me but I was curious for a more up to date comparison/review as well! :) I have seen the Tenth Doctor Matt videos and definately plan on getting more of their ties. :)

I've heard good things about Magnoli's new pattern. There are a couple things that bugged me about the Baron, but I don't know for sure if Magnoli does them differently. As for the brown fabric, from what I've seen, the newer run of fabric has slightly incorrect stripe spacing. Still nearly identical, though, and the best fabric to buy hands down.

I just got a suit made for photography and the details were about 95% perfect... there's one small tweak I want to make to the collar shape, then I'll be happy. The pattern has been updated again and I should be doing a full photo shoot sometime in late October.

Ok, slightly off topic but question about a suit detail that seems to vary unless it's just really obscured in some pictures. The breast pocket flap...is it attatched via a top visible top stitch on the outside or not? Some of the high quality versions and pictures of tennant doesn't seem to show a top stitch and some of the replicas do have it easily visible. Just curious as it's a detail I was trying to figure out and seem to see conflicting things. Anyone?

There should be no visible stitching on the breast pocket flap, though there is edge stitching on the actual patch pocket.
