Molding silicone?

So I have a piece coming that is going to be urethane with bit 2 sections of silicone in it. These silicone panels worry me because I have never had to make a mold of a silicone piece before. I am looking for the best advice someone can give on molding it. I have to make a silicone mold so I can make urethane copies of this particular costume piece.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Apply a barrier coating to the silicone -- I've used mold release, Vaseline, spraypaint -- anything to keep the silicone from the mold from bonding to the silicone in the piece.

A spray on wax is a good barrier for silicone to silicone sections but anything that covers the silicone should work, liquid soap, paint,PVA release agent etc.

Guys, thanks so much for your responses. I was really worried about molding these because I won't have an opportunity to ever get them again. Thanks!

Buy a specialist release agent when you buy the silicone, it is always worth the money spent , most manufacturers have and can supply one ,don't try to rely on paint or vaseline or anything else , as sometimes these will react adversly with the chemicals used in the silicone production process.

Silicone INC (which is in the western part of the State) has a liquid Vaseline that will keep the two from bonding. As a matter of fact, I happen to have a about half a gallon jug of the stuff here, so you're welcome to some of it.
