Hopefully I'm putting this in the right area. I'm not doing the costume, just this, so I thought it was appropriate here. Put this together over the past couple days. Not perfect, but its the first thing I've done that was made 100% myself.

Pay no attention to the Spongebob pillow in the background. :lol

Made the frame out of wood, with chunks of 2X4 in it to secure the inside. Ready Mix Cement Patch on the outside for the stone look. Haven't weighed it, but its got a decent weight to it. Haven't decided if I'm going to put the inscription on it or not. An English language on an ancient weapon of Norse mythology always seemed off to me.

yeah i had the same idea one time trying to get the stone look on a hammer head, but i used wood filler and the crap kept cracking. ill remeber the cement patch from now on :) and great work by the way

Thanks. Yeah, I tried wood putty first and had the same effect. Just wasn't happy with it. Plus I wasn't sure how it would look and feel after painted. The cement patch has the look and feel all ready to go. I'm sure someone with more experience applying this kind of stuff could make it look a little better.

I would sand the surface, so it looks like rock. Now it just either looks like a clay or concrete top. Rock doesn't look like that. Also... it should be iron cast or simulated iron look to be authentic.
