Mini Jango Fett, just for fun.

I've nearly completed my four year old son's mini Jango Fett costume. So I thought I'd post up my build, for anyone thinking of doing the same. I'm not going for 501st accuracy, wearability will be more important.

First up, I bought a helmet from an RPF member, which originated from a TDH member.

It's a nice lid and I've managed to send it off to an expert to paint. This will be the most accurate bit of the costume as it's the focal point. After the rest of the costume has fallen to pieces, this will be displayed on a shelf somewhere.

Next up, overalls. I made a mistake with these, in that I purchased part polyester ones and they will neither bleach/pre dye or dye. So I ended up having to spray them.

I downloaded some excellent Fett armour templates from TDH, scaled them down and cut them out of styrene mirror board.

I also purchased a fancy dress Jango for reference and the belt as well as a set of holsters which I modified to make easier to wear, though it effects accuracy.

I bought some cheap grey faux leather, which I roughly chopped into shape. It this point I discovered that my son was already growing out of the overalls, so I had to get a move on. :lol The vest then went to Grandma's for sewing. After which I dyed it to a more accurate colour.

The mirror armour was given a very slight coat of silver, to dull it down. I also managed to find a set of smaller Jango blasters.

Here's the first proper test fit.

The stuff missing from these pictures is the following :- replace helmet with proper one (it's the fancy dress on in the picture), create upper sleeve effect, complete gauntlets, gloves, knee armour, holster ties. I've already started most of these.

I've also begun a VERY rough jetpack. It's bodged together from cardboard and polystyrene, but has the advantage of having a firing rocket. Which I'll post more on when it's finished.

Rocket Test Fire

As I say it's not very accurate, especially compared to some of the crazy levels of skill shown on this board, but I think it shows what can be achieved with no skill and a bit of effort

Hopefully the next pictures will be of the finished thing.

Man I better not let my boys see this else Ill have em clamouring for a mini Iron Man and Warmachine !!!

Looks cool and I bet you lad is well chuffed!!

Where do you get the styrene mirror board? Looks like a great material to work with. And what does it cost?

Wow, it's so great to see that helmet went to such a good home!

I had big plans to do that for my son, but I'm not the Super Dad you are!

Great work, can't wait to see it all finished!

Thanks for the nice comments.

Of course the only disadvantage for making a costume for a four year old is you only get a few months out of it, before you have to replace bits for a growing lad :thumbsup. Luckily the flight suit can be replaced so I should get a year or so out of it.

Plus, he'll only wear the helmet for a few minutes at a time before he gets bored, though he's happy to wear the rest for ages. it's been fun creating it.

When it's finished I'll post up some photoshop fun.

Next up Judge Dredd!

Cheers,

Pretty much finished now. Just some minor tweaks, though the overalls will need replacing soon. Thanks for all the positive comments.

Cheers! I appreciate the positive comments.

He did a convention late last year, he got a great reaction, which he just loved. I was surprised how much he got into character when people started asking for photos.
