MIKE HAMMER Badge and ID (UPDATED PICS)

So, I'm a huge Mike Hammer fan (the books, not so much the Stacey Keach TV series) and I wanted to tackle a "ticket" and badge that Mike might carry as described in the books.

The badge was custom made through Smith Warren, with the NY seal in the center. The ID is based on several different things, including some great private reseach materials provided by a very cool RPF pal! I used a photo of Derin McGavin as Mike Hammer from the short lived 50's TV series, and based the print info on what is known from the books. The picture was glued in place, then secured with a staple (common method for picture ID's in the 40's-50's). The wallet is hand cut, dyed and stitched.

Anyway, wanted to show it off, let me know what you think!

UPDATE: Made some minor changes to things on the ID in the quest to improve. Also, Nick mentioned wanting to see a pic with Spillaine as Hammer, so I did one of those up as well. New pics below!

Re: MIKE HAMMER Badge and ID

I'm a big Mickey Spillaine fan and am blown away by how cool this looks.

I'd love to have a version with the Mick's face from The Girl Hunters.

What a nice set. Just need a .45 1911 and a shot glass of Scotch to complete the scene...and a breathless blonde in heels.

Added an interest thread over in the junkyard about maybe doing a small run of these.

Great idea, very well executed. I admire your work on the handmade wallets, too -- this one, and the ones you developed for your X-Files creds.

I'll mosey over to the JY now... :)
