Metalcasting Props

I'm planning on getting into metalcasting to make some of the props I'm working on. Mainly looking at casting brass, bronze, aluminum (anything but high-heat iron basically). I plan on using greensand and a propane or waste oil furnace.

Since I've never done metalcasting, can anyone offer suggestions on furnaces, techniques, tips...just about anything.

I've done resin and latex molding...so I'm somewhat familiar with the castin process...just not in metal.

I've been looking at his stuff at eBay. Do you like it? Can you cast a reasonably large item with that furnace?

I've also been looking at a waste oil furnce that I saw at the backyardmetalcasting website.
