Metal gear model kits?

The Kotobukiya Rex kit doesn't really require glue. I glued a few bits on, like the tiny rockets on the legs, but that wasn't necessary. The only advice I have is to primer it really well prior to assembly. I painted mine with enamels and although I primered the surface some paint seeped inside and melted a few tabs causing a few pieces to fall off and require glue.

You guys should really build em up, it's a fun build and goes really quickly.

Yeah i'm for sure going to have to wait til it gets warmer. Even with the furnace going it's only like 50 degrees in the basement.

I'll start on it soon.

I'm hoping to mimic the look of the pre pro toon model used by Kojima Productions.

Yeah that looks like an artillery gun instead of the railgun, maybe they added the railgun later. I'm really tempted to do a mass produced version like in the art i posted just to stand out from all the other game rexes.

They mention in mgs2 that the plans for Rex were spread to the public and several nations were building them at that point in the story so variation on Rex's Mgs1 look would make sense from a narrative point of view.

A Russian or Chinese variation would be cool to see.

Crap no other sites are taking preorders for it either. i was hoping bigbadtoystore would.

3-6-14 update: Bigbadtoystore has the black rex for preorder for 80.00 or so before shipping. I think the total with shipping for it is 87.38. Couldn't pass that up given the markup i paid for the normal rex.

That should be a show stopper. Too bad she can't get it to a con Hideo'll be at, be cool to have him sign it lol

That's not a costume, that's a giant action figure lol. Problem is finding a place to display it at home. That thing literally would take up a 1/4 of my room.

Never been a Metal Gear game fan, but always appreciated the Art. Problem with 3A from my experience, almost with out fail every single item I've ever purchased from them has arrived broken, and or fallen apart when removed from the box. It was so bad, I just stopped ordering from them.

I'd hate to think you'd spend $500+ on something like that, get it and it's falling apart.

New here! Took me a few months to remember to post. I built an MGS REX Black Vers. and in the instructions I saw possibly another Metal gear REX or maybe another color scheme. Unfortunately, I can't read Japanese so I have no idea what it says. Anyway I wonder if that Kotobukiya expo was showing off future product lineup... It would be pretty cool to build a tracked Metal Gear or even a Gekko!

I was going to get the black Rex but since i already had the gray one i didn't see much point. The Ray looked a bit top heavy.

Also, it seems like there will be a figure of the Metal Gear from The Phantom Pain, but all we get for now is a silhouette. There will be a model kit by Kotobukiya (above) and a fully painted statue by Sentinel (below).
