Men in Black Neuralyzer

I looked for a while, but didn't see any threads that showed people make their own neuralizer. (spelled wrong on purpose, so people searching can find spelled either way..)
Has anyone been able to make one from scratch that looks good, works and has accurate sounds? If so, link? or tutorial? shopping list? etc..

I really want one, would prefer to make it myself and don't have $400 for a licensed replica...and no cnc machine to make my own....

Any information is greatly appreciated!!
