Ok I am working on a Replica of the sword from Masters of the Universe, from '87
I will be making the first hilt casts tomorrow morning, so before I do I will take pictures of the clay hilt sculpt.
it is 95-98% screen accurate. I will update you on the status when I can.

ok Here are a few pics,
first one is a screen shot of the hilt, and a drawing I did of it.

[attachmentid=13016]

second is the clay master sculpt [attachmentid=13015]

The small flaws on the final cast will not be visible when complete.

I plan on making 3 versions a Hard Rubber "Stunt" Version, fiberglass "Hero" version(These were the two props made for the film. no steel version exhists yet.) and finally a live steel version with a brass guard, most likely a 1095/Vanadium steel Alloy blade. it will be 47" in length which is screen acurate.

that depends on if I can get a good price in mass produced parts from a custom metal shop. could be anywhere from 400-600 a sword for live steel. I'll get that info when I can. I have to make the first prototype and go from there.

How about a nice stand like the part of greyskull that the sword locks into?
[/b]

Got One Planned. it will be screen acurate with the blinking LEDs as seen in the film.

Kewl... never seen anyone make this piece before (I really enjoyed watching the film when I was younger). Your sketches and master look really good, and you clearly got it very close to the original. Looking forward to seeing how this progresses... :thumbsup

I am having a friend work on the first castings of the hilt. I will update you when I can.
I also plan on working on some casting but I have to wait til april, as I went a little overbudget when I went shopping last :lol

Just need to put on 100lbs of muscle and break out the home bleaching and perm kit and I'll be good to go.

This is one of my FAVORITE swords ever. So I really want to see this thing done.

I found these a few years ago. They're of Skeletor's sword, which has a lot more detail than I originally thought. Either way, it gives of good idea of scale.
