awesome work on that.and i'm using that word too much. so I will throw in a fantastic too...

We are using Mold Max Stroke from Smooth Cast. We order from Reynold's Advanced Materials off of Pinecastle in Orlando. The Mold Max Stroke is better for Bondo filler work which is my main medium. Dries in about 45 minutes for another coat and works with Urefil 11 to thicken up allowing for the 3rd and 4th coats to be thicker and stronger greatly cutting the amount of time we waste molding our bigger pieces. I would suggest it to anyone, I've used rebound 40 and Mold Max 30- which are very good- but I'm very comfortable with this product. Thickens tough and keeps shape well as opposed to other silicones and is moisture curing. If you are going for extreme detail I would suggest going for the 30, drying times are just atrocious.

Thank you very much! It was almost impossible to get reference pics for it because I don't think anyone has replicated it yet. The gentleman who commissioned us is a huge fan of the film and has wanted the staff since he was a kid. He will be sending us photos in a few days of him using it with his costume and we will post more pics of it then.

turned out very nice! Now that its done have you made any decision on doing a run or not? sorry if I missed it, if it was mentioned

Currently we are selling wall mounts but it is going to be a real pain shipping something of that size. If anyone has any ideas on a viable method of shipping a large staff without paying up the ass we would love to hear it. And if we have enough people interested we would love to have a run. This is our first thread of a completed item we had on here. We've done a few things and followed the RPF for forever but only recently felt we had the appropriate skills to be a part of this. I would be very excited to do a run, who all would be interested and we'll get right on the logistics.

Well, you could do what United Cutlery did with the original Saruman and Gandalf staffs.
Cut the staff in half and have it threaded, then you just screw the two pieces together.

Hi there....
Shipping suggestions: After viewing the pics I saw there are 3 rings at the top of the shaft. If you changed the shaft design by adding a ring in the center, that could be your "break point". A favorite connector of mine are T-nuts or Tophats. They have a flat bottom (the brim of the hat) and an internal threaded sleve (the top part of the hat). These on one side and a piece of 3/8 all thread in the other andd you have a very good connection. You could also go even further and make the same connection for the head piece. This would get your shipping dimensions down to 36 inches X 12-14 inches X 8 inches. Uponn recieving the owner can locktite or superglue it together if they want.
A side bar: The subtle changes would make it YOURS, so if it shows up on some re-casters store you can identify it.
