Master Replicas FX ESB Luke Lightsaber upkeep tips?

Hey guys. I noticed years ago that my FX ESB Luke Lightsaber began to get sticky around the black grips, but for some reason it never occurred to me until now to maybe see if anyone on this forum has any tips regarding this matter to get the rubber strips back to their original state (or close to).

Try cleaning them with denatured alcohol or Goo Gone.
