Thanks all! It's being retiled and sized down- there's too many layers of panelling at the sides that hold it together, makes the waist look a bit misshapen. The pressure suit takes care of the details around the ribs, so the armour bits will be be taken off.

I think your Mass Effect build wins for Best Faces.

You did a great job on the first build, I also think you're going in the right direction to minimize stuff. Making any of those suits is kinda overwhelming, not just building it but wearing it too.

Holy hell, Freya, that means a lot coming from you- your thread was one of the huge sources of inspiration for this build, thank you.

Next step is replacing the pants with a similar pressure suit, as I'm still wearing dress pants under it. Used some bits taken from a Magpul MIAD grip and a broken MRDS clone to make a red dot sight, most of the upper torso is now covered by solid plastic panelling- however, I bought the wrong shade of blue and it looks weird as hell. More on that as it's fixed, next event is this Saturday for Free Comic Book Day.

No replies but a hell of a lot of viewers, so I'm just gonna continue here.

I made a gun that's canon and ISN'T made of foam! I'll throw together a rifle, probably a Mattock (yes, the irony of Kaidan using two Cerberus guns isn't lost on me).

Talon took me about two days, it's made of wood.

build process-

Cut out base (size comparison to a WIP Predator)

Cut out panels

Wood filler, sand, detail, then seal for paint+primer

And paint gets you what you have above

So I hated it. Those pictures were well done but the armor looks like crap. I scrapped the whole thing and rebuilt everything that could be done to make it look less like a bulky piece of **** and more like what it looks in game.

Pouch is noncanonical but that's so it could carry my wallet around the 'con

Most important things scrapped were the entire legs

The legs actually look friggin' canon now, they were completely rebuilt with styrene plating and 1/4in foam. No more ugly base.

I posted this thread a while ago about my sort of half assed Kaidan Alenko build from a year ago. We made his alternate appearances and casuals as well, because you may as well go the full way.

Finally. I think it's about done. Went and did a shoot with Shaun Simpson for it (ssimpson.ca- he's amazing) and these are the results.

Starting his alternate black armour set right now.

And the alternate black armour is done! Two and a half days of solid work and it's finally good enough to get pictures-

Photos with Paul Vienneau-

It's mostly 1/4in EVA with styrene plating, textured with shelf liner after painting the camo on by hand. Copying the patterns symmetrically based on concept art was a pain.

Friend and I powered through a Garrus in a few days. We did some photos out of town, and they turned out awesome.
The Femshep set I had was a commission I made for a girl in New Brunswick- we had the original Shep for the shoot bail, so my friend Tasha took her place.
