I'm a big MARY POPPINS fan. I met Dick Van Dyke a couple of years ago and I was as thrilled as many people would be meeting any of the stars of the MARVEL or STAR WARS films. The original was one of the first movies I ever saw in a theater and has remained in my top 10 films of all time. Therefore, this movie had much to live up to for me. The original has reached such legendary status it would be impossible to surpass it. That being said, I enjoyed it very much. I had tears in my eyes during several sequences, it touched me that deeply. If you are a Mary Poppins fan I think you will enjoy this movie. It has many nods to the first film and follows a similar story line. The care and attention to detail that was taken in reconstructing "Cherry Tree Lane" was amazing and much appreciated. I don't know if I really want to see another Poppins story. This one really serves as a good bookend to the first film. Slight spoiler ahead..... There is a sequence with Meryl Streep. For me, this sequence could have been cut and it would have helped the pacing of the movie, but of course no one would dare cut Meryl Streep!

Someones last name appears to be edited, at least for now. I can't change it. Hopefully you all know who I mean, he played Bert and Mr. Dawes in the first movie.

What’s up with that ? It’s his name right !?
Autocorrect , censorship app - thingymebob..., whatever’s bloody responsible....., it’s all going bonkers o_O!

p.s. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to one and all !

You can disable censoring of words for yourself in your forum settings ... But then you won't get to see if it becomes censored for someone else.

We took the kids to see it. I was pleasantly surprised at how enjoyable it was. They did a good job of recreating the original setting. The musical score had some nice nods to the original, but also stood well on its own.

If you're a fan of Mary Poppins, definitely worth seeing.

I went and saw it with the kids, my father in law, and my wife’s grandma. The kids liked it but I think the old folks liked it just as much, if not more. I think great grandma made an audible noise when Dick Van Dyke made an appearance.

Just got back from it. Solid movie, songs were a pale reflection of the originals. But that was a hurculean task anyway. one thing I noticed was that Mary Poppins was the one to throw away the share certificate. She put all the random papers from the den in the box and told George to throw them away.
