Marty McFly Safari Shirt - Back to the Future

I thought I am really slacking off when it comes to keeping up with the BTTF news. So I checked with Stephen Clark of BTTF.com (which is now www.Backtothefuture.com) about the January 2015 announcement of the shirt. He confirmed there were no shirt release announcements made on the site this year.

So I guess it was posted by BTTF Forum on the BTTF.com FB group and not on the actual site.

That's funny because I had a conversation with him about the shirt. We also had discussions about a business arrangement. It was announced on his Facebook page in January, as this is the primary avenue of releasing information to the fans. I will speak with him this week about your inquiry.

I couldn't find anything about the shirt on his Facebook page. He either deleted it, or he never announced anything of the sort.

There has been several announcements on the facebook page, and we even offered a discount announcement on July 3rd to celebrate the 30th anniversary. You sure didn't look hard.

Besides who gives a crap when the announcements were made. The message obviously got out. We have sold hundreds. What business is this of yours?

Pretty sure I never said I had a business so I dont know why you said that. And I used ctl F to find anything related to the shirt and nothing popped up. Please post a link of Stephen Clark's Facebook page that mentions the shirt. Did he post it on his personal page or a bttf fan page?

Why does it matter. What make you think you have any say as to how Shah Safari markets this product. You cant use control F on a facebook thread. It will only search the current screen. Thank for making a statement based on searching 1 page of info. Your request for me to go back and copy the original thread posts is denied.

I dont know where you got the crazy idea that that was my intention. I simply wanted to see the original post. And my searches went to before July. You are a very rude person.

No, what I am getting here is that people are questioning what we are doing and stating that what I am saying is false. That is how it is coming across.

I just want to know when and what announcement was made on the website, if not what was posted on the FB page or FB Group in regards to the same.

I think these are the announcement BTTF Forum (a.k.a. Stephen Pearson) is referring to (to be fair, I don’t think he ever claimed that Stephen Clark posted the announcements himself):

It looks like the last time Stephen Clark posted about the shirts was 2012:

The shirts were also available “exclusively” from Shah Safari through the UK-based Hill Valley Preservation Society in 2014, although it’s unclear whether these were leftover stock from the 2010 run or early versions of the 2015 re-issue:

Thanks ruscoe, that's all I wanted. Good job finding all those links. I had seen some of those posts before, but wanted to confirm if he meant the FB group or the site itself. I mentioned it in my previous post that it might have been the case.

So I guess it was posted by BTTF Forum on the BTTF.com FB group and not on the actual site.

The Hill Valley Preservation Society had petitioned Shah Safari for some shirts as part of a fundraiser. They could have been either version as the new batch of shirts was being finished up at that time. Shah Safari is very big when it comes to charity and promoting charitable organizations. As I have stated before, we donate from every shirt sold to the Michael J. Fox Foundation. They did not have any exclusive arrangement with Shah Safari, rather Shah sold them a bunch of shirts to support their fundraiser. I had conversations with Matt about his fundraiser at that time. The HVPS has done great work raising money for MJFF.

Thank you for listing some of the announcements that were made over the past 7 months. The July 3rd discount was edited and changed the following day, as the anniversary discount was over. This is not all of them, but it clearly shows that it has been out there. Again I don't see why this was questioned or challenged, but everything I have ever posted is questioned and challenged.

I questioned solely cause you mentioned "on BTTF.com", which frankly I thought meant the website and I didn't remember any announcement from there. Hence the question. If it was mentioned as BTTF.com FB Group, I wouldn't have chimed in.

My apologies if that was not clear. I spoke with Steve Clark this morning. As you know, he could not make that announcement on his site (non-facebook) or in an official capacity on the facebook page. The reason has to do with his arrangement with Universal. He can only announce stuff that is "Back to the Future" related and licensed through Universal. Shah Safari does not need to license its shirt through universal because its their shirt. So as I said, we announced it through the BTTF.com facebook page in January. We have created a facebook profile specifically for the shirt and other Shah Safari related products and will be using that from this point forward on the BTTF.Com thread.

Re: Original Marty McFly Safari Shirt at auction! Back to the Future

I had a Shaw Safari shirt in high school around 1989. It was the same pattern, just green and back checkers instead of the white/black Michael J. Fox wore in BTTF. I remember if you didn't have the sleeves rolled up some (which we all did), they were easily past the elbow. =)

Do you have any photos of the shirt? :)

These are up for sale again on eBay for $60. Just search Bttf Marty shirt and it should be the first one.

Very cool Mitas - thanks! Is it accurate? Do you know who makes it?
No problem. I like spreading the word when awesome stuff becomes available. I forget how many hash lines there were when I had mine. I am not currently in the U.S. right now. But I think it is missing one. Someone would have to remind me what the accurate hash count is. But the overall look of the shirt is awesome. The lines are less bold and farther apart than the official release making it look lighter like in the movie. It is not a perfect replica, but a damn good one. The only other gripe I have is that since the shirt is made in panels, they don't line up perfectly. And the eBay seller is tragicmountain27. They now has size XS since I messaged them about their size small being a little too big. I am only 1 inch taller than MJF and I could tell by looking at the movie that it fit too big on me. The size small fit like a medium. Just a heads up.

Happy 2016 everyone!

I haven't posted in this thread in a while because I haven't really had much new info to add (though my search continues to conclusively prove the manufacturer of the original screen accurate shirt), so on that note…

There is currently a Shah Safari shirt listed on ebay, that (for the first time I've ever seen on one of their shirts) has the two breast pockets without buttons in them. You can see it here:
MOD EDIT: Please do not post Ebay links, thanks!

The tag in the shirt also matches the one EmmaInCandyland posted, here: http://www.therpf.com/showthread.php?t=227496&p=3484653&viewfull=1#post3484653

So, while this isn't much, it's at least a small point in the Shah Safari column. Surprisingly, after having looked through literally probably over a million of these type of shirts through the last decade, it's actually really uncommon to come across ones that have the two breast pockets in this shape without having a flap or button.

On a related note, I can't believe it's been 30 years and we still haven't been able to find even ONE original vintage shirt, but its gotta be out there somewhere!
