Firstly i have to give a big thank you to some of the users on here, whom gave me some sound advice when i first posted on this forum. And secondly for making a model building novice such as myself feel welcome. It has been a wonderful experience building this kit, especially as i had no manuals, decals. Just two lumps of resin which where chipped and worse for wear. When i bought this 3 years ago from a local comic shop, i never realised how much fun i'd have with it. Cheers guys.

And now for the pix :)

Regards
James

Not bad for a garage kit. If you think you're up to it, you should check out Roddenberry's tricorder kits. Very simple to assemble and you get a great looking prop when you're done.

Finally the last touches, with the added LED's. I'll be adding the screen tomorrow, right now i'm worn out. Been decorating all day and spent an hour relaxing (working on this) :p

Great work! :D

"Garage Kit" means usually an unlicensed resin kit, as one might make in a garage and sell. These tend to be figures or prop replicas of unusual subjects or rarities.

Also search around on the board here, there's news out of the Comic-Con about a replica Mark VII tricorder coming from EFX (along with other interesting Star Trek prop replicas!).

Cheers Karl, i'll have to keep an eye open for that. I'd love a bells and whistle's tricorder, but it's the price thats always stopped me. This was attempt at testing the water, to see how good i was at making things and if i could face building a Mark X from the rodd.com site.

I was told by one of the guys on here, that this was a kit sold by Starland when TNG was still in it's 1st season.

Yep! the girlfriend look at what i'd done today and said..If that was my first attempt at making a prop. Why hadn't i bought the kit of Rodd.com already..LOL she's got more faith in me then i do. I just had a picture in my head of how the end product would look. Nailing the LED's was the only thing i was really worrying about, specially those fiddly little white bits for the green LED's.
