Man of Steel (Pre-release)

I can't say I really grew up on George Reeves (he was dead long before I was born), I definitely fit the Chris Reeve era age-wise.

My perfect movie Superman hasn't been filmed yet. If the could just film the mid to late 80's comics (I've already mentioned John Byrne's Man of Steel).

Now you know what happens if we film Byrne's Superman --- that means no Superboy!!!?! And that leads to a problem with the Legion of Superheroes, pocket universes and all that mess finally leading up to a Zero Hour film. What a mess.

I did LOVE Byrne's take on the whole thing - especially Krypton.

Oh, I think they could find a way to fit Superboy in.

But, the Reeve films didn't have a Superboy and the early synopsis we're hearing about this film implies no Superboy as well.

I loved Byrne's take on Luthor. Although I didn't read those books, the idea of Lex becoming President was a nice touch. The idea of a covert/behind-the-scenes type villian that Superman couldn't touch was a great idea.

Hey, according to the Salkins the Superboy tv series was connected to the Reeve movies - LOL :wacko

But I was joking anyway - but wait, are you saying you didn't even READ the Byrne era Superman? If you didn't you should do yourself a favor and pick up the compilation of Man of Steel and give it a read. It's some GREAT stuff - a combination of the comics and the Reeve films. he weakened Superman and then had him run across the golden age Superboy (from a pocket universe Earth) who wiped the floor with Superman. This being the Boy of Steel who had all the robots and could literally push around planets and break the time barrier by flying fast. After Superboy died in Legion Superman was called back to Superboy's Earth after the Phantom zone Villains escaped and killed everyone on the planet by boiling the place tunneling to the Earth's core allowing the oceans to pour in and erupt in boiling hot vapor. Course, this being a weaker Superman he had no chance against Zod, Non and Ursa who were all equally as strong as Superboy. I won't ruin the ending - but let's just say it really is one of the most shocking and pivotal Superman comics of that era.

No, I read the Byrne stuff - I was a fan of his FF run (and to lesser extent his X-Men and Alpha Flight). I remember all the hoopla with that reboot and bought multiple copies of the new reboot #1's.

Sorta lost interest shortly after Superman's death/resurrection - actually this was about the time I dropped comics. I didn't read the arc where Luthor became president, but loved the idea of it. (both of which happened post-Byrne).

Man of Steel Moved to Summer 2013 | Superhero Hype
Man of Steel moved to Summer 2013 from December 2012 release.

This will work out for the better. Summer 2013 gives more room for post production and it will be launched as a big summer event with better chance at the box office.

And the best part, the year 2013 is the 75th Anniversary of Superman since his debut in Action Comics #1 in 1938.

I believe they've already got IM3 and Thor2 slated for that summer as well. Lotta super hero's in 2013 :)

Fishburn, Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Diane Lane, Kevin Costner, Michael Shannon, Antje Traue, Russell Crowe, Julia Ormond, Christopher Meloni and Harry Lennix

If you put enough tomato sauce on rotten meat it hides alot.

yes, but you can't hide the nasty taste!

Sure you can. That's why tomato and meat sauce was invented. In italy, before ice boxes, meat would spoil quickly, so they mixed it with sauce to hide the taste. What you can't hide is the stomach ache (or perhaps worse) you feel the next day .

And as or the pic above - gotta admit, he looks the part, but there are a lot of big names in the movie and that's always the perfect smoke screen to hide a weak story -- I hope I'm wrong, but Zach has yet to prove me wrong on anything he's done with I call it garbage.

I hope that's not filming hair. Bit too rockabilly. Does look the part otherwise.

Oh, i was under the impression these pics were taken on set. Looks like this guy dresses like Clark Kent anyway.
