Limited Run Man Of Steel Movie Accurate full finished suit . Display Sculpture

Re: Man Of Steel Movie Accurate full finished suit NEW V2 Material in hand

Over the weekend, I laid out all the parts and had the PC on to the forum and various reference pictures. Put on the suit to start gluing at 10AM. Finished around 5PM. Took longer than expected. Wore a black underamor shirt under the suit while gluing because we knew there were parts where the glue would seep through the costume and get stuck to me.

The hardest part were the shoulders/back/sides pieces. The armor piece did not completely line up cleanly along the top of the back to fit with the oblique part. Had to be careful to line up the oblique pieces so that they would still attach to the belt buckle AND the back armor. Also had to be sure that it would line up to the belt buckle and that the gold belt lines were all in the correct proportion. Tough little puzzle.

That process was the most challenging. We saved the S shield for last.

On Saturday, I spent time to finish up the boots. Glued the soles to the bottom of the boot and made sure they stuck.

On Sunday, I wanted to focus on just installing the cape properly. I followed the tutorial on the MOS thread. Quickly found out that industrial Velcro does not stick well to the urethane piece. So I had to make the Velcro strap that Masked Rider showed by using sew-on velcro. I used double-sided tape to tack down the Velcro as glue was not working.

Re: Man Of Steel Movie Accurate full finished suit NEW V2 Material in hand

Just got back from San Diego Comic Con. The suit was fun to wear. I see now where I still need some adjusting and tweaking primarily along the cape. Might need to cut slits into the suit to tuck the cape further into the suit. The suit photographs well under natural lighting.

I popped the butt seams pretty badly when I bent over. Going to need to fix it. However, I cannot easily turn the suit inside out because the silver under suit is sewn in. Do you suggest that I have to undo the seams of the undersuit first and then stitch the outer mesh suit?

That suit looks awesome under that lighting.

Re: Man Of Steel Movie Accurate full finished suit NEW V2 Material in hand

Saw Bryan in the suit at SDCC...WOW it looked great!

Any thoughts on updating the few pieces that are changing in BvS? (chest logo and belt buckle)?

Re: Man Of Steel Movie Accurate full finished suit NEW V2 Material in hand

Thanks for the feedback, everyone, but really its MASKED RIDER who deserves 100% of the credit. IMO, I think the suit looks better in natural day lighting than indoor lighting:

versus flashed indoor lighting:

I had a lot of popped seams. I popped the rear seams when I bent down to pick up my bag. This is harder to fix as the silver undersuit is sewn beneath it, so I would have to open the suit and then stitch the outer mesh suit. The seams on the ankle of the boots popped again too, so I have to restitch that. My main complaint is there is not enough give/stretch in the suit hence the resulting damages.

Leslee, have you thought about making these changes for the Dawn of Justice suit? Looks like there are a few small but detailed changes...wasn't sure how difficult it would be to ;)

There are lots of subtle changes to the BvS suit over MOS. I took several photos of the exhibit. The armor chain mail swoops underneath the deltoids, around the wrists, and along the abs/ribs.

Its a huge re-design.

Boots are also different. BvS boot has a thicker heel/sole and is a square toe.
