Making a nylon bullwhip in Australia- any known substitutes for BBs?

BBs are illegal in our heavily censored country, unfortunately. The guide I'm following says to fill the core with BBs to make the whip 'flow' a bit smoother. I know they aren't necessary but does anyone know of any good substitutes I could use?

Do you mean ball bearings? Because ball bearings are not "illegal" in Australia, otherwise every vehicle would be "illegal"

Check ebay, or a bearing shop, or a hobby shop, or a hardware shop.

Hi

I didn't realise BB stood for 'ball bearings'! I actually ordered some ball bearings a few hours ago in the hopes that that would work, it just didn't click earlier. Ahaha, you learn something every day!

Thanks !

Maybe if the instructions called for airsoft BBs, then maybe you might get into trouble trying to have them sent in from overseas (ammunition for a banned firearm*).

*Yes, I know airsoft aren't considered "real guns" in the rest of the world, but Oz is a bit "special" in this regard.

I've heard using the chain made of linked balls can be used. The type you see on soldiers dog tags & ceiling fan pulls. Here you can buy out by the foot at hardware stores & it's cheaper than bearings.
