hoping someone out there can help me out. I making a prop for a movie - it's a fake magazine article that is supposed to be in New York magazine. That magazine has very very thing glossy paper and I have gone to all sorts of paper suppliers but no one has what i need. The closest I have come is presentation paper for a laser printer but the director doesnt like it.

Can someone help me out?

Try contacting a paper manufacturer. Tell them you're interested in magazine stock, and would like some sheet size samples sent to you.

Every paper company has a sample department that sends free samples out to potential customers.

Call a magazine that has the paper you like.
Tell them why you need it.
If you have a website of your work(or any other info) you may want to send them a link to show you are legit.
The magazine may even be flattered that you are contacting them for help.
Maybe make an extra framed copy of the prop for your contact person at the magazine and tell them where to look for it in the film. Don't use that extra framed copy as a bargaining chip as it will make you look like a tramp(my 2 cents). Send the extra copy later as a surprise. Something as a token of thanks to let them know they were a part of the film.

I had similar circumstances occur in a couple projects I had. The people I spoke to in my situation were even happy to help since it was a fun break in their daily work routine.
