me too.. triangle ring and missing control box...

Some have speculated that it is the prototype Luke ROTJ saber that Icons made before they went bust

Nice photo, thanks for sharing this. I like that it isn't perfectly clean and has a soft touch of weathering. This may be the style I go with when mine arrives.

Quick update guys.
All the boxes are machined, man it was really time consuming but I think well worth the extra time involved.
Only thing left is the side plate and buttons for the box.
They are being cut now so we are just about at the end of the adventure.

Not to "one-up" you but I'm in the same boat plus a Vader ROTJ stunt coming from Korobanth's latest run :D

Great news about the hero kits! really looking forward to this one!

Again, if anyone has had the misfortune of having to drop out please let me know and I will gladly take your spot! Luke's ROTJ hero will always have a special place for me ever since I got my first kiddy lightsaber for Christmas 20 odd years ago.

Ha - in my day (38 years ago) we only had "Force Beams" - strong enough for heroes, light enough for princesses... ;-)

yep, I remember when it was just called star wars without titles or episode numbers. I was 6 when it came out and watched it in theaters with my parents. Gosh, we are getting old

I'm surprised no one has done a machined version of those giant lightsabers back in the 80's

Almost there guys.
Side plates all done for the boxes. He is currently machining the triggers.
All the clocking is done, which is where the saber is assembled and the hole for the triangle, the locator hole for the box, and the hole in the front is put in. I want it to match the casting loaned to me as close as possible.
I'm still working on the sliding box cover, but we are so close you can taste it.
Thanks for being understanding and patient guys.

Thanks for your efforts.

Will the assembling be secured with Loctite (or something similar), or will the parts just be screwed together?

May i ask what threading is used?
