Limited Run Luke ROTJ Hero Lightsaber Kit.( Run closed )

Re: Luke ROTJ Hero Lightsaber Kit.

I would buy a few if he decided to sell just the boxes, but either way I'm happy with the completed saber run. Thanks for doing this run

Yeah, you may have opened Pandoras box with this update. Looks like a few members would like these offered by themselves

Re: Luke ROTJ Hero Lightsaber Kit.

Now that you have the control box, would it be possible to get a picture of the complete saber?

Re: Luke ROTJ Hero Lightsaber Kit.

Excellent work as usual.

This is looking to be a run with a massive amount of interest (glad I got in when I did :) ).

Re: Luke ROTJ Hero Lightsaber Kit.

Great work, I'm really looking forward to this one. Thanks for doing this.

Re: Luke ROTJ Hero Lightsaber Kit.

looks great :) will it be possible to have brass runners like the screen used one or will they have to be painted?
cheers

The screen-used saber had runners that matched the neck. So if he's choosing copper for the neck the runners would be copper to match. I personally feel the screen-used sabers had a neck and control box rails that look closer to polished bronze. But either way, the carpet must match the drapes. :thumbsup

Here is a sample of where I am going with the control box.
It will be hollow with a sliding top and separate side plate.
Don't mind the electronics in the box, I just threw it in their for fun to show it is hollow.

Nick, for some of us that strongly feel copper is too reddish to be screen-accurate, would you PLEASE consider asking the machinist to do some of the necks in bronze?

Also, would you consider making the control box in two pieces so that the rails can be the same metal, and so exact same color, as the neck? It would be a shame to have a solid metal neck (which saves us from having to paint aluminum and looks awesome), but then have to paint the rails to attempt to match the neck metal color, which will be difficult and won't look as nice as rails made from the actual same colored metal as the neck. If this makes the price go up a bit, I'd be fine with that.

Re: Luke ROTJ Hero Lightsaber Kit.

Ideally, like Spyhunter I'd like the runners and neck to match. As for the material/finish it's always seemed brassy to me, particularly the "metal" hero. Some versions do look painted.

I don't recall any version that I'd call bronze, but it's a wide colour palette.

I would happily pay for my options, but I don't think that we can fairly expect Nicksdad to accommodate all our preferences!

Re: Luke ROTJ Hero Lightsaber Kit.

I've only ever had the eFX reveal, but I'd say polished copper is close - as in mint uncirculated pennies.... UK pennies at least! Though I believe the copper coating they give those steel blanks is only about 96% copper.

Brass is too yellow and true bronze too brown.

Re: Luke ROTJ Hero Lightsaber Kit.

The neck is being cut in copper, that has already been established earlier on.
The control box will be cut in aluminum as pictured.
If the builder would like the rails to be brass, simply get some K@S brass angle and glue it on.

Re: Luke ROTJ Hero Lightsaber Kit.

Exactly what I was planning!

Re: Luke ROTJ Hero Lightsaber Kit.

Here's just a couple pics of screen-used heros from the archives, two metal and one resin.

And if you'll notice in the metal saber pics, it's not just the rails/runners of the control box and neck that should match, it's the color of the circuit card as well...

EDIT: I'll be pleased as a plum to receive this excellent saber in either polished copper, brass, or bronze.

Anyone know the story on this saber? Gold tri-ring and only part of the upper neck is a gold color...
