For a general digest on what's going on I second the Propnomicon blog. I like his attention to the paper ephemera. I've got one of the 'Miskatonic Australian Expedition' packs which included a pin badge, a patch and a notepad with the expedition logo on it and some photos and postcards as supporting material.

Every Lovecraft fan worth their shoggoth ;) should know about HPLHS Prop Documents Project I have two of the CDs, and they are just wonderful.
This would have been golden to me 15 or so years ago when I was running live action Call of Cthulhu games (Dead Earth Productions...anyone? Anyone? Bueller?).

It looks like they've got a fantastic collection there.

Missed the Australian and Antarctic packs, but would buy in a heartbeat if he did a new run.

I carved this a while ago – it's my first time, be gentle ;)

Also laid out this titlepage to a book mentioned by Robert E. Howard in The Black Stone.

I have another titlepage coming up, for HPL's birthday....

Cool! What'd you carve it out from?

Thanks!

Rectangular chunk of basswood. I picked up ye olde whittler's starter kit at the crafts store, thought I'd give it a go. Tougher than it looks, course I should have been using real tools and not my X-acto knife...

I'll try my Dremel for the next one.

EDIT: That's cool. It looks very primitive!

I didn't think you got in on this run so I thought I'd share a pic. It came in a very nicely aged crate and a staggering amount of paper props as well. Mailed over the months (as the props were built) as correspondence from the explorer protagonist and buyers (financial backers)

Letters, postcards, telegraphs etc.! Oh my!

It's very deliberately, and helplessly primitive. I think I'll axe the faux base on the next one.

That (yours) looks nice. Mailed over the months, you say? Nice crate. I have some cheapo wooden boxes I've been refinishing, off and on, that look similar. I love the look of aged wood.

Show me (us) what one of the telegrams looks like.

I like old weathered looking props but I suppose it's more of a LARP thing. So, you would want it to look new.
