Hi guys, I've been a long time fan of this whole website and been blown away by everything that people make. So I thought I would give it a shot as well, now please be kind because this is literally the first costume I've handmade from scratch.
I'm a huge Back to The Future fan, because its awesome, and I've actually never seen anyone do the Enchantment Under The Sea dance dress so I thought I would give it a shot. So here are a couple of screenshots I have of the dress (I have a lot more, so if any of you guys have a question about this dress, I am bound to have a picture of it):

So I guess I'll say what I did, cuz I think thats what you amazing people say in these mind blowing threads.
So I was thinking that finding that peach frabic would be easy and finding that polka dot overlay would be hell on earth. Go figure it was the other way around. I ended up purchasing a white stretchy fabric (which was probably the dumbest idea in hindsight) and dying it to try and match the color of the dress. There were a few splotchy areas but I tried to work around them and hope that the overlay would cover it.

I miraculously found this fabric, which even looks vintage! And I personally think its perfect. Though sewing this sucker was tricky since it was so fragile:

And I found this vintage dress pattern on etsy, its not exact and I had my costume design friends help me tweak it and also help me to understand what the hell it said:

I unfortunately didn't take too many pictures of the process, just because I had no clue what I was doing at the time and had a friend guide me along the way and made sure I didn't screw up too badly:

So stretchy fabric, not so good, kept throwing all the seams off and there was so much fabric it was really hard to get the sewing machine to go through all of it. And before I show you the final product (please be kind I didn't have time to go completely full out as her and i'm still missing some stuff, which I will ask for all your opinions later on), here's some of the accessories. I bought plastic Baby's Breath flowers, that way I wouldn't have to worry about them dieing on me and could easily stay in my hair. I also used two crinoline skirts to get the poofy aspect of her dress, but that is seriously a hassle so I've got to find a fuller white crinoline skirt. I also bought these earrings to match her's from etsy:

So um here we go, I had to sort of rush to get this out since there was a swing dancing event that was themed Enchantment Under The Sea. I also didn't have time to do her hair like it is in the movie, which I'll probably have to go to a rockabilly salon to have it done correctly, because dear god I have a lot of hair that doesn't like to cooperate. Unfortunately very few people were dressed up like Back to the Future, and even less knew that this was a dress from the movie. Hopefully you guys will be able to tell!

So things I need to fix, and would love to get your thoughts on:
HOW DO I GET THIS THING TO STAY UP?! Since its stretchy, when I dance this thing slips down, there are a couple really attractive (*sarcasm*) shots of me holding up this damn dress. My friends recommended tape, but I would love a more permanent fix.
Also I need to find her shoes, they look like they just match her dress so I'm wondering if I have to buy shoes and dye them the same color as I did the dress?
And in this shot, you can see that her sweater has some beading and also has a one button closure, which the one I have was as good as a replica I could find in very little time, so any help on that front would be awesome!:

So ya that's my Enchantment Under the Sea Dance dress. I've still got work to do and any input would be awesome.
Thanks guys
