Lookie what i built! Rocket!

I managed this in 2.5 days. its for an indie film shooting locally. Its based on the old Flash Gordon ship, but made with enough differences that I can call it my own. Call it an "homage".

And yes, the mid-section rocket part is a miniature bundt-cake pan. The cockpit is a stainless steel mixing bowl and the body is a miniature garbage bucket. I should call it "The Emril" or "The Earth Rocketship Julia Childs" or something.

But hey, I was in a rush. Silver paint covers a multitude of sins.

I made a set of four silver space bubble helmets as well.

More to come.

Really nice work! I love the use of found components. This harkens back to "Buck Cheezer":thumbsup

Thank you folks. It went fast and that's good.

In answer to the question above, the wings are made of 1/2 inch Sintra board.

The one thing i learned on this one is to have SOME kind of drawing to use as a plan. It went SO much faster than just trying to kludge something together out of thin air.

Thanks guys!

Doug... that's a GREAT avatar image. One of my favorite shows. Hands down one of the best drama series ever produced. And Al Swearingen is the jewel in the crown.

The director of the film gave me a shot of the old serial rocket to emulate. That whole bulbous front end thing doesn't really turn me on, design -wise. But I tried really hard to get the feel for the thing and make it so people would look at it and wonder if it was the same as the old one or if they were remembering wrong.

I hope it worked. :)

You should really post a tutorial for it, I want one BAD!!!
I've always loved the retro sci-fi stuff!

Or at least list all the parts you used in building it....:)
